Agriturismo Podere Omomorto
ItalyYou know what really hits you about Agriturismo Podere Omomorto? It’s that moment when you’re driving up Via Tartiglia and suddenly realize you’ve left the bustle of Pratovecchio behind – I mean, we’re talking maybe five minutes from the town center, but it feels like you’ve stumbled into a completely different world. The gravel crunches under your tires as you pull up to this beautifully restored farmhouse, and honestly, the first thing I thought was “okay, this is exactly what I pictured when I imagined staying at a real Tuscan agriturismo.”
The whole place has this authentic working-farm vibe that you just can’t fake – there are actual olive trees dotting the property, and during harvest season (which, if you can swing it, is absolutely magical in October), you’ll catch the scent of fresh olives being processed. The rooms are housed in what used to be farm buildings, but they’ve been converted with this perfect balance of rustic charm and modern comfort. Think exposed stone walls and wooden beams, but also proper WiFi and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too – I was half-expecting that rock-hard mattress situation you sometimes get at these traditional places, but they’ve clearly invested in quality bedding.
What really sets this place apart, though, is how it sits in relation to the Casentino Valley. You’re literally surrounded by the kind of rolling hills and cypress-lined roads that show up on every Tuscany postcard, but you’re also perfectly positioned for exploring the area. The Camaldoli Monastery is maybe a twenty-minute drive through some seriously gorgeous mountain scenery, and if you’re into hiking, the Foreste Casentinesi National Park is right there. The family running the place – and yes, it’s actually family-run, not some corporate operation pretending to be – they’ll give you the real scoop on which trails are worth your time and which restaurants in Pratovecchio the locals actually eat at (hint: skip the touristy spots near the main piazza).
Breakfast is served on this covered terrace that looks out over the valley, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the kind of view that makes you want to linger over your coffee for way longer than usual. They do this thing where most of the food comes from their own farm or neighboring ones – the cheese, the honey, even the jam. It sounds like marketing speak, but you can actually taste the difference. Fair warning though: if you’re someone who needs to be walking distance from nightlife or shopping, this probably isn’t your spot. The evenings here are about wine on the terrace and maybe a short drive into town for dinner. But honestly? After a day of exploring medieval villages or hiking through chestnut forests, that slower pace feels pretty perfect. The whole experience just feels genuine in a way that’s getting harder to find – like you’re staying with people who actually care about showing you their corner of Italy, not just filling rooms.

Molto carino il giardino riservato per ogni appartamento e dotato di barbecue e tavolo con panche che ci ha dato la possibilità di fare correre il cucciolo senza paura che scappasse.
