First Impressions

Honestly, when I first pulled up to Agriturismo La Marginella, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this four-star property tucked away in the Tuscan hills. The approach through winding country roads near Pescia had me wondering if I’d taken a wrong turn somewhere — but that’s exactly the point. This place feels genuinely removed from the tourist crowds, yet it’s surprisingly polished once you arrive. The stone farmhouse sits beautifully against rolling hills, and there’s immediate parking right on-site, which honestly saved me from the usual Italian parking drama.

Location & Setting

You know what struck me most about the location? It’s that perfect sweet spot between authentic countryside and actual accessibility. Pescia itself is this charming little town that most tourists skip right over on their way to Florence or Pisa — which means you get the real Tuscany experience without fighting crowds for a decent photo. The drive from the main road takes maybe ten minutes through olive groves and vineyards, and I found myself stopping just to take in the views. Couples seem to really get this place (the staff mentioned they consistently rate the location nearly 9 out of 10), and I can see why — there’s something genuinely romantic about the setting without it feeling overly staged.

The Property Experience

What makes La Marginella work is how they’ve managed to keep that authentic agriturismo feel while actually delivering on comfort. My room had this lovely mix of traditional Tuscan elements — exposed beams, terracotta floors — but with modern touches that actually mattered, like excellent Wi-Fi and a bathroom that didn’t require contortionist skills. The common areas flow naturally from indoor to outdoor spaces, and there’s this wonderful terrace where I spent way too much time just watching the landscape change as the light shifted throughout the day.

Dining & Local Flavors

The restaurant here deserves special mention — they’re doing something really thoughtful with local ingredients. I mean, this is proper farm-to-table cooking, not just the marketing version of it. They source from their own gardens and local producers, and you can actually taste the difference. The evening I was there, they served this incredible wild boar ragu that had clearly been simmering for hours, paired with wine from a vineyard literally visible from the dining room windows. Breakfast was equally impressive — fresh pastries, local honey, and coffee that reminded me why Italian coffee culture exists in the first place.

Why Guests Love It

After spending time here, I totally understand why this place consistently scores so highly with visitors. It’s that rare combination of authentic character and genuine hospitality that’s getting harder to find. The staff clearly know the area well — they pointed me toward some hiking trails I never would have discovered otherwise, and their restaurant recommendations in nearby towns were spot-on. Plus, there’s something deeply satisfying about staying somewhere that feels like a real working farm rather than a themed hotel. You’re not just visiting Tuscany here; you’re actually experiencing a slice of how people live in this beautiful corner of Italy.

Hotels near me in Tuscany deliver quick drives to Val d’Orcia lookouts, artisan workshops, and cypress-lined cycling routes.

Such a wonderful property on top of the hill, surrounded by olive trees with an amazing view. There is a beautiful garden with palm trees, cacti, flowers, lavender, roses, fruit trees. The swimming pool is big, refreshing, with umbrellas, sun loungers and shower. There is also a table tennis and BBQ places for everyone. Giovanni was an amazing, friendly attentive host. We spent there a full week with our kids and enjoyed the peace, quiet, the surroundings so much. We had a spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms, well equiped kitchen, nice bathroom. We hope to come back here next summer. Highly recommended. Juraj&Maria

Extraordinary place with kind and nice owner who is always willing to help and take care about every detail of this property. This place is situated at the hill with great view to the valley which you can also see while swimming in the pool :) We were lucky and had great people accommodated in other apartments and spent with them funny evenings full of good wine and food.
We will come back for sure!

We spent 6 nights in this amazing place, which is not just a place to stay, but a small microcosm of warm, quiet and care. Owner gives his heart to make every flower and every stone look perfect and fits into the whole puzzle. The place is hidden on the top of the hill and opens its heart only for those who makes the effort to climb the whole way😃
