Agriturismo I Moricci
Peccioli, ItalyYou know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Agriturismo I Moricci – honestly, the GPS had me winding through these narrow country roads near Peccioli, and I was starting to wonder if I’d made a mistake. But then you see this beautifully restored farmhouse sitting there in the Tuscan countryside, and it just clicks. This isn’t your typical hotel experience, and I mean that in the best way possible.
The thing about this place is that it actually feels like staying at someone’s really well-appointed country home. The family who runs it – they’re genuinely warm, not that forced hospitality you get at chain hotels. When I arrived (parking was easy, by the way, which isn’t always a given in rural Italy), they walked me through the property like they were showing off their own backyard. The rooms have this perfect balance of rustic charm and modern comfort – thick stone walls that keep things cool even in summer, but you’ve got proper WiFi and a shower that actually has good water pressure. Little things matter when you’re traveling, you know?
What really sets I Moricci apart is the location in Località Fabbrica. Most tourists stick to the main piazzas in Peccioli, but out here you’re surrounded by actual working vineyards and olive groves. In the mornings, you can hear the roosters from neighboring farms – sounds cliché, but it’s honestly magical when you’re sipping coffee on the terrace. The breakfast spread uses ingredients from their own garden and local producers, which you can taste immediately. Their jam alone is worth the stay. The evenings get pretty quiet (bring a book), but that’s exactly why you come to a place like this. Well, that and the fact that you’re about twenty minutes from Volterra and can easily day-trip to San Gimignano or even Siena if you’re feeling ambitious. The hosts actually gave me insider tips about which hill towns to hit and when – stuff you won’t find in guidebooks. They steered me away from the tourist traps and toward this little family-run osteria in the next valley that ended up being one of my best meals in Italy.
I’ll be honest – if you’re looking for a pool scene or nightlife, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to experience that slower pace of Tuscan life everyone talks about, where your biggest decision is whether to read on the terrace or take a walk through the olive trees, then I Moricci nails it. The 9.5 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect – it’s just really, really good at what it does.

Guest Reviews
It was clean in the room and bathroom, inside the house its not hot, but cold, we asked Maria for an extra blanket. In general you can ask her about anything, and she will get you what you need.
We didnt have a kitchen in our room, but we could use the common kitchen, there is a fridge and a cooker, plates etc.
Our room was just the best, with a terrace, so we mostly were spending time there, in the room was a bit dark and chilly, but we slept veeryy well
The swimming pool was cleaned every day.
We had a kettle in our room, that was important for us
I think this is a place where you can find inner peace, and not a place for parties.
We really enjoyed our stay!
What could be improved: Would be great to have a bit more towels, some guests in the end of our trip were loud after 22:00, the bed was a bit short for my partner, as he is 1.95 cm :))
So only small moments, we really liked this place, hope to come back :)
