Agriturismo I Cedri
Cortona, ItalyYou know those places that make you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special? That’s exactly what happened when I first pulled up the winding dirt road to Agriturismo I Cedri. Honestly, I almost turned around twice thinking I’d taken a wrong turn somewhere near Cortona – but then you crest this little hill and there it is, this gorgeous stone farmhouse surrounded by olive groves and cypress trees that look like they’ve been posing for postcards their entire lives.
The thing about I Cedri is that it actually feels like staying at someone’s countryside home, not a hotel pretending to be rustic. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – you can tell from the way they’ve restored the original stone walls and kept all those thick wooden beams, but added things that actually matter, like proper Wi-Fi and rainfall showers. My room had this incredible view over the valley toward Montepulciano, and in the mornings you wake up to the sound of church bells drifting up from the village below instead of traffic. The breakfast spread is something else too – fresh ricotta that’s probably from goats you can hear bleating in the distance, local honey, and this amazing bread that disappears fast (I mean, I may have gone back for thirds).
What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to be completely peaceful without feeling isolated. You’re maybe ten minutes from Cortona’s main piazza if you want to wander the medieval streets or grab dinner at one of those wine bars tucked into ancient cellars. But back at the agriturismo, especially in the evenings, you get this perfect quiet – just cicadas and the occasional owl. The pool area is where I spent most afternoons, looking out over those rolling Tuscan hills that honestly look too perfect to be real. Fair warning though: the road up can be a bit tricky if you’re not used to driving narrow Italian country lanes, and you’ll definitely want to rent a car since there’s no way to get around otherwise. But that’s part of the charm, really – you feel like you’ve found this hidden gem that most tourists rushing between Florence and Rome completely miss. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you experience the real Tuscany, not just the Instagram version of it.

Guest Reviews
The conditions at Agriturismo I Cedri are simply fantastic. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and furnished with attention to every detail, making us feel both comfortable and luxurious. The entire property radiates peace and authenticity, surrounded by beautiful, green scenery. What's more, we had the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful swimming pool, which was the perfect place to relax and cool down on hot days! It's a true oasis of peace.
We started every morning with delicious, fresh, toscania breakfasts that gave us energy for the whole day.
An added bonus is that the owner is a producer of excellent olive oil. We had the chance to taste it and, without hesitation, bought a few bottles as a souvenir – its taste is incomparable!
We wholeheartedly recommend Agriturismo I Cedri to anyone looking for a unique place to relax in a beautiful setting. We will definitely be back!
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Shower set-up in the bathroom is slightly awkward and water spillage from the shower stall was an issue. Temperature of the room was also not adjustable (regardless of changes on the control panel, no actual heat came through).
The vibe here is pure tranquility. Surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards, it's the perfect escape from city life. We woke up to birdsong and enjoyed lazy breakfasts.
Exploring nearby villages was a breeze, and coming back to our cozy room felt like coming home. Can't wait to return to this slice of Tuscan paradise!
