Agriturismo Fattoria Di Maiano Overview

First Impressions

When you pull up the winding road to Agriturismo Fattoria Di Maiano, you immediately understand why couples rate this place so highly. This four-star working farm sits on the hillsides above Fiesole, and honestly, the views across the Tuscan countryside are exactly what you picture when you think of Italy. The property feels authentically rustic — not the polished kind of rustic you sometimes get at fancy resorts, but the real deal where you can actually smell the olive groves and hear roosters in the morning.

The Setting

What struck me most was how this place manages to feel completely removed from city life while being surprisingly accessible. You’re technically only about 20 minutes from Florence’s center, but it might as well be another world up here. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward — free spots right on the property, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Florence by car will appreciate. The agriturismo sits in this perfect sweet spot where you get that authentic Tuscan farm experience without feeling like you’re roughing it.

Accommodations

My room had that perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. The stone walls and wooden beams give you that medieval Tuscan vibe, but the bathroom was completely updated and the Wi-Fi actually worked well. What I loved was how each room feels different — they’re not cookie-cutter hotel rooms but spaces that have been thoughtfully converted from the original farm buildings. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and you know what? The silence at night is incredible after the constant hum of city noise.

Breakfast Experience

The breakfast here deserves its own mention because it’s one of those experiences that actually makes you want to get up early. They do this fantastic buffet spread with both continental and Italian options, plus they’re really good about gluten-free choices if that’s something you need. The local honey, fresh bread, and what I’m pretty sure were eggs from their own chickens — it’s the kind of meal that makes you feel like you’re living in a Tuscan postcard. The dining area overlooks the valley, so you’re basically eating breakfast with a view that people pay good money just to photograph.

Why Guests Love It

I think what makes this place special is how it delivers on that Tuscan dream without feeling touristy or fake. The staff clearly takes pride in what they’re doing — they’re not just running a hotel, they’re sharing their way of life. The location really is exceptional, especially if you want to explore both Florence and the Chianti region without being stuck in either place. It’s the kind of spot where you can spend a day wandering through vineyards, then easily hop into the city for dinner and museums. Plus, there’s something deeply satisfying about staying somewhere that’s been working the same land for generations.

Tuscany’s hotels pair barrel-aging cellars, fresco breakfasts, and concierge-led Siena cathedral climbs.

beautiful property next to Fiesole, which is still few minutes drive from Florence. Amazing salt water pool and view of the valley. Breakfast was delicious and all products were made in house. Even the ham!

Spectacular estate with magnificent views and countryside exploration while being only 15 minutes from Flrence city center. A walk through the estate is a whole activity itself, the olive harvest can be witnessed at full scale and the breakfast at the balcony was just perfect.
