You know what struck me first about the AC Hotel Firenze? It’s actually modern in a city where you’re constantly surrounded by Renaissance everything. Walking up to this sleek Marriott property on Via Luciano Bausi, I mean, it’s like stepping into a different century – and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you need after a long day of marble statues and frescoed ceilings.

The location is pretty smart, actually. You’re in Santa Maria Novella, which sounds fancy but it’s really just the train station neighborhood – and I don’t mean that in a bad way. You can literally walk to the Duomo in about 15 minutes (I timed it), but you’re far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually breathe. The staff seemed genuinely helpful when I was trying to figure out which bus goes to Piazzale Michelangelo, and they knew their stuff about restaurant reservations, which… let’s be honest, you’re going to need help with in Florence. The rooms have this minimalist thing going on that works really well – clean lines, good lighting, and the AC actually works (crucial in summer, trust me). I stayed on the fourth floor and barely heard any street noise, which was surprising since Florence can get pretty lively at night.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the breakfast setup was efficient without feeling rushed, and they had actual good coffee – not the watery hotel stuff you sometimes get. The fitness center is small but functional, and there’s something to be said for having a quiet space to decompress after walking like 20,000 steps through cobblestone streets. The whole vibe is sort of business-traveler-meets-design-hotel, which sounds weird but somehow works in Florence where everything else is so… ornate. With an 8.4 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and I think it’s the fact that they’re not trying to be a palazzo or some fake historic thing – they’re just being a really solid, well-run hotel where you can recharge between all that Renaissance immersion. If you want to feel like a local who just happens to have great taste in accommodations, this is your spot.

  I liked the secured parking. Restaurant was great and buffet breakfast was sufficient & good variety of hot & cold breakfast options. Staff in restaurant very pleasant. Some of the reception staff are great and some not so maybe they just want to go home and not be bothered by requests so much..

  The menu for room service was very limited the location of this hotel was bad, we stayed at a different hotel at the beginning of our trip that was centrally located, but with this hotel we had to spend a lot of money in taxis.
