A Point Porto Ercole Resort & Spa
Porto Ercole, ItalyLook, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to A Point Porto Ercole Resort & Spa on Via Caravaggio, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Porto Ercole isn’t exactly Portofino or the Amalfi Coast, you know? It’s this charming little fishing village tucked into Monte Argentario that most tourists completely miss. But that’s actually what makes this place special. The hotel sits right where Via Caravaggio meets Via Tramontana (which, if you know anything about Italian street names, tells you you’re getting both the artistic soul and the mountain winds), and honestly, the location couldn’t be more perfect if you’re trying to experience the real Tuscany without fighting crowds of selfie-stick wielding tourists.
The resort itself is… well, it’s genuinely beautiful in that understated Italian way. None of that flashy Dubai-style luxury – instead, you get these clean lines, natural materials, and this spa that actually uses local thermal waters. I mean, Monte Argentario has been known for its healing springs since Roman times, so they’re not just making that up for marketing purposes. The rooms have this lovely Mediterranean feel without being kitschy about it, and here’s something I really appreciated: the soundproofing is excellent. You’d think being on a peninsula you’d hear everything, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet even during the summer when the port gets busy with yachts. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not quite perfection (the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some areas, and breakfast service can be slow if you’re in a rush), but it’s definitely the kind of place where you find yourself extending your stay.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. When I asked about hiking trails, they didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – they told me about this incredible walk up to the Spanish fortress that most guidebooks don’t even mention, and gave me specific timing advice about when the light is best for photos. The concierge mentioned that Thursday mornings are perfect for exploring the old town because that’s when the local market happens and you can actually park without circling for twenty minutes. These are the kinds of details that make you realize you’re dealing with people who live here, not just work here. And you know what? For a five-star place in Italy, the pricing felt reasonable – not cheap, obviously, but not like they were trying to fleece you either. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between luxury and authenticity, and you don’t mind being a bit off the beaten path, this place delivers.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Breakfast was a bit chaotic
What could be improved: Breakfast should have been fully included, restaurant and bar expensive for dimner
What could be improved: Nothing really except it was very quiet as it was out of their busy season.
What could be improved: It was off-season so we could not enjoy the amenities of the pool and sitting outside, nor the beach. Most restaurants in the area were closed, so we ate at the hotel, which was good, but not as adventurous for us as 'tourists."
Where in the world did they come up with the SQUARE TOILET and BIDET? Very awkward.
What could be improved: The l 3 dining bit cold in the night even with heating above its a marquee and so dress with warmth in the cooler months for this otherwise nice area would be great in summer
What could be improved: Could develop gym room with a few more machines and barbells. Include spa hour in price?
The room was beautiful, clean and fresh.
The breakfast offering was extensive and the food in general was very good.
What could be improved: Nothing!
Also, the styling is beautiul but to connect my laptop i had to crawl under the desk, not very practical.
The food was more than excellent, the pool fantastich, the manager super.
Paulo and Dario were also great as were the me doing the gardening, the rooms and helping with suitcases.
All in all would love to come back! Truly wonderful, missing it already.
What could be improved: it is a bit off the beaten track so there is not much around the hotel (like restaurants or shops). they tend to play music everywhere (in the corridors, while you eat dinner). quite loud too.
Stunning roof top swimming pool
Only 5-10 walk into the town of Porto Ercole
What could be improved: Could have been more check in staff. They only seemed to be able to deal with one person at a time.
