YOLE Affittacamere
Empoli, ItalyYou know what? I’ve walked past YOLE Affittacamere on Piazza Guido Guerra probably a dozen times before I actually stayed there, and honestly, I was kicking myself for waiting so long. The building sits right on this charming little square that most tourists blow right past on their way to Florence – which is actually perfect, because you get all the Tuscan atmosphere without the crowds breathing down your neck.
The first thing that struck me was how quiet it gets at night. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Empoli, but once the evening passeggiata winds down around 9 PM, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The rooms have this perfect balance of being updated enough that everything works (the shower pressure is actually decent, thank god) but they haven’t stripped away all the character. There’s something about the way the afternoon light filters through those windows that just… well, it makes you want to grab a book and just exist for a while. The hosts – and I’m pretty sure they live nearby because they always seemed to know exactly when I was coming back – have this knack for being helpful without hovering. They’ll point you toward the good gelato place (it’s the one on Via del Giglio, not the touristy spot near the train station) and actually remember your name after day one.
What really sold me on this place was the location, though I didn’t fully appreciate it until my second morning. You’re a five-minute walk from the Collegiata di Sant’Andrea – seriously beautiful church that nobody talks about – and the morning market happens right around the corner on Thursdays. Plus, if you’re planning day trips, the train station is close enough that you don’t need a taxi, but far enough that you don’t hear the announcements at 6 AM. I took the train to Florence twice and to Pisa once, and honestly, coming back to Empoli each evening felt like escaping to somewhere real. The thing is, Empoli isn’t trying to be picturesque for tourists – it’s just a working Tuscan town that happens to be beautiful, and YOLE feels like it fits that vibe perfectly. The whole experience felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, if that friend happened to have impeccable taste and actually knew how to make a proper espresso. At 9.6 rating, it’s one of those places where you understand the high score isn’t just about fancy amenities – it’s about getting everything right in a way that feels effortless.

What could be improved: The biggest complaint is the wifi is horrible at least in our room (No.2), practicable useless.
We needed an iron and there wasn't one in our room, it would have been fantastic to have it available.
What could be improved: Everything was fine. We had no problem.
What an amazing find. This wonderful boutique B&B set a few yards from the centre of Empoli. We had a beautiful en suite room with everything catered for, including aircon for the warm evenings. Sunny large balcony with soft lighting to sit out in the evenings. Monia and the girls keep everything immaculate. Monia helped us out with taxis and was always met with a warm, friendly greeting by all.
Amazing value for money.
Highly recommended.
