When I first walked into Wall Up Apartment, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but this four-star place in Florence completely surprised me. It’s tucked away on Via G Pascoli in the Campo Di Marte area, which I’ll admit isn’t the touristy center most people think of, but that’s actually what makes it special. The building has this understated elegance that feels authentically Italian rather than trying too hard to impress visitors.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Campo Di Marte is where you get a real taste of how Florentines actually live — you know what I mean? There’s a proper neighborhood feel here with local cafes where the barista remembers your order and small shops that close for lunch like they should. The train station is literally a few minutes away, which makes day trips to other Tuscan towns ridiculously easy. I mean, you can be in Siena or Pisa before most tourists have finished their hotel breakfast. Plus, getting into Florence’s historic center takes about 15 minutes by tram, but you’re sleeping somewhere that doesn’t sound like a construction site at 7 AM.

The Space Itself

The apartment setup is what really sets this place apart from typical hotel rooms. You get a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped, and the kitchen is actually functional — not one of those sad hotel kitchenettes with a broken coffee maker. I spent a morning making fresh pasta with ingredients from the local market, and honestly, it felt more authentic than any restaurant meal I could have had. The bedroom is spacious enough that you’re not tripping over your suitcase, and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly.

I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something romantic about having your own little Italian apartment rather than just another hotel room. You can grab wine and cheese from the market down the street and have dinner on your own terms, or sleep in without worrying about breakfast service ending. The whole area has this relaxed vibe that’s perfect when you want to experience Florence without feeling like you’re constantly “on” as tourists. The parking situation is actually manageable here too, which is saying something for any Italian city.

  We loved the location in a quiet neighborhood with a grocery store and a variety of great restaurants within walking distance. Paulo was friendly and available to answer questions with clear information. The air conditioning in each room was an unexpected bonus. Two bathrooms made getting ready in the morning extra easy. Bus transportation is available within a 5 minute walk.

  A bohemian-style apartment that blends well with the atmosphere of Florence. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean, and the apartment had all the necessary amenities. It is within a relatively short walking distance from the historic city center. The owners were very kind and accommodating.

  This apartment was fantastic! Everything about it was first class. It is walking distance (about 20mins) to Academia Galleria and the Duomo. There is also a bus nearby to Florence centre. Across the road is a bus to the station. A 2min walk from the apartment is a supermarket and next to the supermarket is a place where you can buy bus tickets (don't forget to validate your ticket in the machine on the bus or you can get a very hefty fine – you just fold the ticket in half and put into the slot in the machine). There are also lots of great restaurants nearby. Paolo is an amazing host – he met us at the apartment and explained everything; he even gave us all a bus ticket in case we needed it. I turned 65 while we were there and Paolo surprised me with a bottle of champagne!! Thank you Paolo!!
