Villa Tower Inn
Pisa, ItalySo I’ve stayed at Villa Tower Inn a few times now, and honestly, it’s become my go-to spot in Pisa – which might surprise you since most people just book whatever’s closest to the Leaning Tower and call it a day. The thing is, this place sits on Via Bonanno Pisano, and if you know Pisa at all, you know that puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night.
The first time I rolled up here, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior – it’s got that classic Italian urban hotel look, nothing fancy – but step inside and there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling (not stuffy like some four-star places), and the staff… well, they remember your name after the first day, which is rarer than you’d think. My room overlooked the street, and I was worried about noise, but Via Bonanno Pisano isn’t one of those crazy busy thoroughfares – more like a gentle hum of Italian life that honestly becomes pretty soothing after a while. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “thoughtfully updated” – they’ve kept some of the original character (love the tile work in the bathrooms) while making sure everything actually works properly. You know how hotel showers can be a total gamble? Not here. Good water pressure, stays hot, no weird quirks you have to figure out.
What really sold me on this place, though, is the location knowledge you pick up staying here. The staff clued me in that the best gelato isn’t near the tower at all – it’s this little place about a seven-minute walk away that locals actually use. And here’s something I didn’t know until my second visit: you can walk to the Arno riverfront in about ten minutes, which gives you this completely different perspective on the city that most tourists never see. The walk to Piazza dei Miracoli takes maybe fifteen minutes if you’re strolling, but honestly, I started looking forward to that little journey through the residential streets – you pass this fantastic morning market on certain days, and there’s a coffee bar where the barista makes these incredible cornetti that are still warm at 8 AM. I mean, you’re not going to find that information in the typical hotel brochures, but it’s exactly the kind of stuff that makes a trip memorable. The area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is perfect if you’re planning to actually rest between days of sightseeing, and parking – if you’re driving – is way less of a nightmare here than closer to the main attractions.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: So close to the city centre and the Leanig Tower of Pisa.
What could be improved: The staff were lovely and efficient
A few stairs to get your cases up but as we were on first floor not really a problem
What could be improved: Did not have a proper bar area
What could be improved: A bit far from a good restaurant
What could be improved: No proper bar area - definitely needs looking at
What could be improved: Shower drain was slow to drain
What could be improved: The WiFi was Not working in our room (3rd floor).
What could be improved: Good thing is that hotel has parking. However if you have big car you have extremely narrow way to go to this parking. Nothing for small cars.
At the same time the parking has interesting design (see foto).
