Villa Bonelli
First Impressions
Walking up to Villa Bonelli feels like discovering a secret that locals have been keeping to themselves. This four-star boutique property sits quietly on Strada Sant’Eugenia, and honestly, the moment you step through the entrance, you understand why couples keep rating this place so highly. There’s something intimate about the scale here — it’s not trying to be a grand hotel, but rather a refined retreat that actually feels personal. The attention to detail throughout the property immediately sets the tone for your stay.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re in Siena‘s top-rated area without dealing with the tourist chaos that hits the main squares. I mean, you can walk to the Duomo and Piazza del Campo in minutes, but when you come back in the evening, you’re tucked away in this peaceful residential pocket. The location score of 9.7 isn’t just numbers — couples genuinely love how easy it is to slip away from the crowds while staying connected to everything that matters. Plus, there’s parking available, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Siena’s medieval streets with a car will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The Experience
What strikes me about Villa Bonelli is how they’ve managed to create something that feels both polished and genuinely welcoming. Each room has character — you’re not getting cookie-cutter hotel design here, but spaces that feel thoughtfully put together. The staff actually knows your name after the first day, and they’re the kind of people who’ll give you real recommendations, not just point you toward the obvious tourist spots. The overall vibe is sophisticated but relaxed, if that makes sense. This balance is what keeps guests coming back year after year.
Why It’s Special
Here’s the thing about this place — it gets the balance right between being special enough for a romantic getaway and comfortable enough that you’re not walking on eggshells. The property has this lovely residential feel, almost like you’re staying in a beautifully restored Sienese home rather than a traditional hotel. The attention to detail is there without being fussy, and the service feels genuine rather than scripted. You’ll find yourself lingering in the common areas, which is always a good sign. It’s these small touches that transform a stay into a memory.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.7 rating isn’t an accident — Villa Bonelli delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re exploring a city like Siena. You get the perfect base for wandering the historic center, but you also have a peaceful retreat to return to. Couples especially seem to appreciate how the location lets them create their own rhythm — morning coffee before the crowds arrive, afternoon exploration, and evening strolls through quiet streets. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’ve made a smart choice, not just booked a room. The experience lingers long after you’ve left.
Best hotels in Tuscany blend infinity pools over vineyards, truffle tasting menus, and handmade linen suites.

Guest Reviews
We were 2 couples and had both bedrooms made up as doubles. They were both roomy with big comfortable beds. There were 2 bathrooms, both with showers, but one was small, so we only used the larger shower, which worked out fine. Kitchen was fine for making meals and a lot of basics were provided. Living area was great, and there was a lovely shared garden.
Siena is a walking town and while the location of Villa Bonelli is outside the walls, it's effectively on the same level and only a relatively short walk from the historical centre.
Michela and Maurizio are very attentive, generous and welcoming hosts.
and was on hand for any queries. The apartment was clean and comfortable as was the garden. The tortoises walking around were a joy to behold.
Host was ultra helpful and was corresponding with me before I arrive to ensure a smooth check in.
(The picture that is the thumbnail for booking.com really does a disservice. Makes it look like an old fashioned B&B and it’s really not)
