UNA HOTELS Vittoria Firenze
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about UNA HOTELS Vittoria Firenze? It’s tucked away on Via Pisana, which honestly is a blessing – you’re close enough to everything that matters in Florence but far enough from the tourist chaos around the Duomo that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, staying right in the centro storico sounds romantic until you’re lying awake listening to groups of twenty-somethings stumbling over cobblestones at 2 AM.
The hotel itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciated. It’s a proper 4-star place, nothing flashy or trying too hard, just solid and comfortable in that way Italian hotels do really well. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling – not like those sterile chain hotels where everything looks like it was installed yesterday. Check-in was smooth (they actually spoke decent English, which isn’t always a given), and the staff seemed to know the city inside and out. When I asked about getting to Oltrarno without dealing with the crowds on Ponte Vecchio, the guy at reception immediately suggested taking the bus to Porta San Frediano and walking from there – exactly the kind of local insight you hope for.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent-sized bathrooms, and here’s something I always notice: the windows actually open, and you get real air circulation. The AC worked fine when I was there in July, but honestly, opening the windows at night was enough most of the time. From my room I could see a slice of the Arno in the distance, though I wouldn’t call it a “river view” exactly – more like a glimpse between buildings. The Wi-Fi was reliable throughout the hotel, which matters more than people admit when you’re trying to figure out museum hours or book dinner reservations.
What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation. They do a proper Italian breakfast – none of this fake continental stuff with stale pastries. Fresh cornetti, good coffee (obviously), and they had this selection of local jams that were actually worth trying. The breakfast room gets decent morning light, and there’s something civilized about starting your day there instead of rushing out to find an overpriced café near the tourist sites.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the Santo Spirito area, which is where you want to be for dinner anyway – way better restaurants than the tourist traps near the Uffizi, and about half the price. The hotel’s on a regular city street, so you’ll hear some traffic during the day, but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you awake. There’s a decent gelato place about three blocks away (locals go there, always a good sign), and if you need groceries or pharmacy stuff, there’s a small shopping area within walking distance.
Honestly, with an 8.3 rating, this place delivers exactly what it promises – a comfortable, well-run hotel in a city where location and value can be tricky to balance. It’s not going to be the highlight of your Florence trip, but it’s not going to disappoint you either, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

What could be improved: I think others would like to improve breakfast but for me it's not important! Everything is very good! Thank you!!!
What could be improved: Such a stylish designer interior, but which is already falling into disrepair, furniture is deteriorating over time, plumbing creaks. I would like to wish you - updates over time!
What could be improved: Around 20-30 min by wall to the centre
What could be improved: Before check out, on 9 o’clock in de morning while we were out on breakfast, the cleaning lady came into the room to clean and took all our belonings. When we came back she was still in the room cleaning. We got our things back but she was not supossed to come clean and take our belongings while we still haven’t checked out.
It was a misunderstanding of course, she thought maybe that we left but it didn’t fell right. It wasn’t even checkout time, we still had 2 hours left.
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: The location was a little tricky to navigate until I figured out the public transport system
What could be improved: The room was smelling cigarette.
What could be improved: Although we encounter this issue in most hotels regardless of stars rating I would like to bring it up as hotels with a higher star rating should be different. When checking in the staff should take the time to let customers know about the location and proximity to bus stops, trams or other type of transportation. We were told nothing about this. We found a bus stop in close proximity to the hotel with service to downtown for $1.75. We contact the hotel about taxi service and they only told us to pick up a taxi at the station. Bus 6B is right across from the train station and will take you a block away from the hotel without paying for a Taxi or even awaiting for one which in our case we couldn’t find one even calling directly. Tourists aren’t aware of this fact unless the hotel staff points it out. This is even more important when the hotel location is not near main attractions or to the downtown area. Hotel management must make this a priority and a training session for all over the counter employees. A map showing these points…location of the hotel and close proximity to transportation assets as a minimum should be the rule to create a great hotel experience at check in. Not much to ask to assist people who are strangers to the city and its surroundings. We also didn’t like dinner closing at 8pm. Most one day tours ended around 7 or 8. By the time u get back to the hotel dinner was over.
Pleasant and low key staff allowing you to get on with your day.
I think I would like the location in summer to avoid the crowds however in winter I'd recommend staying closer to district 1 if you came for sightseeing( it's a very brisk 30 min walk to get to Piazza del Duomo for example).
What could be improved: Not sure why the place has 4 stars as no sufficient facilities - no spa or option to use the bar throughout the day.
