Toscana Charme Resort
Pisa, ItalyYou know what surprised me most about Toscana Charme Resort? It’s actually tucked away on this quieter stretch of Viale del Tirreno where you can still hear the waves at night – something that’s honestly harder to find in Tirrenia than you’d think. The whole area feels sort of removed from the main tourist chaos, which I mean, isn’t that exactly what you want from a 5-star place?
The resort itself has this authentic Tuscan villa vibe that doesn’t feel forced (trust me, I’ve seen plenty that do). Walking through the entrance, there’s this subtle scent of Mediterranean herbs from their gardens mixed with that clean sea air, and the lobby has these gorgeous terracotta floors that stay cool even during those brutal August afternoons. The staff actually remembers your name after day one, which – let’s be honest – doesn’t always happen at places like this. I noticed they’re genuinely proud of the property, not just going through the motions. The rooms are spacious with those classic Italian shutters that actually block out light if you’re trying to sleep off jet lag, and the beds are properly comfortable (sometimes European hotels miss the mark here, but not this one).
Here’s the thing about the location that really matters: you’re literally a five-minute walk to some of the best stretches of Tirrenia’s beach, but you’re also close enough to hop on the coastal road toward Pisa when you want to explore. The 7.9 rating honestly reflects what I experienced – it’s genuinely excellent without being stuffy or pretentious. The pool area gets busy around 11 AM, so if you’re into that peaceful morning swim thing, get there early. And honestly? The restaurant serves some of the best seafood risotto I’ve had outside of Venice – they source from the local fishing boats that come in just down the coast. The wine list is solid too, heavy on Tuscan selections that pair perfectly with sunset on their terrace. One small thing: parking can get tight during peak season, but the staff will sort you out if you mention it when booking. This place gets what luxury should feel like – effortless, authentic, and just a little bit magical when the evening light hits those cypress trees in their garden.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Not a lot, but it says it’s a 5 star resort. The look and feel and the state of the pool I would give it a 3/4 star. But the service was definitely 5star! Incredibly sweet, helpful and accommodating staff.
What could be improved: Too early to close the pools at seven pm. And to charge almost 10 euros for an omelette when breakfast is included is...embarrasingly greedy!
What could be improved: Pay for the parking €15 over night, it should be included in the rate or have some discounts for guests.
What could be improved: Can be beter brekfast, food was cold, but it is much better than other places 👍
What could be improved: extra fee for parking, for the price you might expect free parking place.
Close to the beach although you do have to pay extra to use it and it was very busy (we were there in August). It also has a decent beach bar/restaurant, although you should book ahead on weekends.
Our room was huge, comfortable and clean with excellent blinds to keep it cool and dark at night/early mornings. Staff were helpful, mostly friendly and some clearly very hard working (some did breakfast, lunch and dinner service).
Loved the breakfast. Great choice, plenty of it and all delicious.
What could be improved: The food choice at both restaurants wasn’t great for children. Lots of (most of) it was fish or seafood. For two meals our children just had fries as it was all they liked.
It would be nice if the beach bar stayed open a little later in the evening so you could enjoy a drink there before dinner and watch the sunset.
The food at breakfast was very limited and ran out pretty much everyday and staff were not quick re-stock similar cutlery
There hotel over price and given the lack of basic provision like no free water I would consider the hotel to be 3 star, I would have given 4 if free water was available. Therefore my suggestion to booking.com to revise rating of the hotel.
What could be improved: For the price of stay they need to sort out sunbed policy and also provide free water. It does not have to be bottled water. But minimum tap water in jug. Alternative provide water bottle filling areas
What could be improved: small gym, with few sports equipment
What could be improved: Very little options for lunch, the beach bar is full and you need to reserve in advance (there is a good restaurant 5 minutes walking distance). Breakfast is good but options are quite limited.
