One thing though: if you’re a super light sleeper, request a room facing the courtyard rather than the street. Via del Giglio isn’t exactly a highway, but there’s some early morning delivery noise.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels authentically Florentine without being stuffy about it. The concierge team actually knows their stuff – they pointed me toward this incredible little osteria on Via delle Belle Donne that I never would have found otherwise, and steered me away from the tourist traps near the Ponte Vecchio. The breakfast spread is solid (decent prosecco selection, which, let’s be honest, is important), and they serve it in this gorgeous room with original frescoes that make you feel like you’re dining in a private palazzo. Because, well, you sort of are. The whole experience just feels effortless in a way that only really well-run hotels manage – you know, where everything works perfectly but you’re never aware of all the machinery behind it.
