Cerretani Hotel Firenze – MGallery Collection
Florence, ItalySo I stumbled into the Cerretani Hotel during my third trip to Florence, and honestly? I wish I’d found this place years ago. It’s tucked right on Via de’ Cerretani – you know, that street that’s basically a straight shot from the train station to the Duomo. Which means you’re literally a three-minute walk from that jaw-dropping cathedral, but here’s the thing most people don’t realize: you’re also perfectly positioned to duck into all those side streets where the real Florence happens.
The building itself has this understated elegance that feels very MGallery – not flashy, but you can tell someone put serious thought into every detail. The lobby has these gorgeous marble floors that echo just enough to remind you you’re in Italy, and the staff actually remembers your name after the first day (rare in tourist-heavy areas, trust me). My room faced the internal courtyard, which I initially thought might be disappointing, but it turned out to be a blessing – dead quiet at night, while friends staying in street-facing rooms dealt with the usual Italian street symphony until late. The beds are proper comfortable, and I mean European-comfortable, not that rock-hard nonsense you sometimes get in historic buildings.
What really won me over was how the hotel sits in the neighborhood. You’re on Via de’ Cerretani, sure, but step out the door and hang a left, and you’re in this maze of streets where locals actually shop and eat. There’s this tiny alimentari around the corner where the owner will slice your prosciutto paper-thin and tell you exactly which wine to pair with it. The hotel concierge – older guy named Marco – actually knows about places like this, not just the tourist traps. He sent me to a little osteria about ten minutes away where I had the best ribollita of my life, and when I mentioned it to a Florentine friend later, she was genuinely impressed I’d found it. The area gets busy during the day (it’s Florence, what do you expect?), but early mornings and evenings have this lovely residential feel. You’ll hear church bells from multiple directions, catch the scent of fresh bread from the bakery down the street, and watch locals doing their evening passeggiata. It’s the Florence you hope to experience, not just photograph.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: None.
What could be improved: The heat. Too hot in the summer.
What could be improved: Not enough space for big luggages.
What could be improved: Runny eggs and undercooked bacon. But I always eat the Italian breakfast. But if you only want bacon and eggs, you might not like them
