The Moon Boutique Hotel & Spa
Florence, ItalyLook, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to The Moon Boutique Hotel on Viale Fratelli Rosselli, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s tucked into this slightly busy street in Santa Maria Novella, and you know how Florence can be with traffic noise. But the moment you step through those doors, it’s like someone hit the mute button on the city. The lobby has this incredibly calming vibe with soft lighting and these gorgeous marble floors that actually feel warm under your feet – probably heated, which is genius for those chilly February mornings I experienced.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to anticipate everything without being pushy about it. The concierge (I think his name was Marco?) knew I was heading to the Uffizi before I even mentioned it, probably because he’d seen me studying my guidebook over breakfast. Speaking of breakfast – they do this thing where they bring you fresh pastries from a local bakery just two blocks down on Via della Scala. You can actually smell the cornetti baking if you open your window around 7 AM, which honestly became my favorite wake-up call. The spa is compact but thoughtfully designed, and after walking approximately 15,000 steps around the Oltrarno district, that Turkish bath was exactly what my feet needed.
The rooms are what I’d call “smart small” – they’ve maximized every inch without making you feel cramped. My room faced the courtyard, which meant blissful quiet at night but still plenty of natural light during the day. The bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed alive, and the shower pressure was surprisingly strong for an older building. One tiny thing – the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental in July (learned this from chatting with other guests), but the ceiling fans actually work really well, and the stone walls keep things naturally cool. What I loved most was the location’s sweet spot factor: you’re literally a 12-minute walk to the Duomo, but you’re also close enough to the Arno that you can easily wander over to Santo Spirito for dinner without dealing with the tourist crowds around Ponte Vecchio. The 9.4 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Florence, but everything they do, they do really well.

What could be improved: They have their own parking but you need to pay 35 euros separately for that. The advertisements don't mention paid parking. It says free. Ut is 35 euro if you want it valeting. Nothing was mentioned about paying when communicated with them. I paid 35 euros on the checking out, and the car wasn't valeted .
What could be improved: Nothing disliked . But the hotel is about 15-20min walk from main sights in the centre. Spa is open at limited times, would be nice to have more flexibility to use it
What could be improved: Nothing.
Breakfast was a highlight – there was a wide variety of fresh options to choose from, something for every taste. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful and welcoming, and everything was well-maintained.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay with excellent service!
What could be improved: No washcloths nor loofahs available.
Approx a 30 minute walk into the centre otherwise very well connected to the centre by bus or 1 stop on the tram to the train station.
Staff helpful.
Breakfast was also plentiful with some a la carte options.
What could be improved: I booked the spa in advance for the 7- 8.30 slot. I was lucky as only one other couple was there.
The music in the spa was too loud and only had a track list of 3 piano tunes which was annoying.
The steam room was not working on a strong power. I mentioned this to the assistant but she explained it was 5 mins on 5 mins off. I was not convinced.
Overall this is a fancy hotel with a luxurious feel. I think great for honeymooners who want to be out of the hustle & bustle of the centre.
I also think the huge discount available on Booking should actually just ne the normal price for the room - it's a little deceptive.
