Tenuta Seripa

You know what struck me first about Tenuta Seripa? The approach. You wind down Via Campagna Sud through these rolling Tuscan hills, and suddenly there it is – this gorgeous estate that somehow manages to feel both rustic and refined. It’s about 15 minutes from Sassetta proper, which I actually loved because you get that proper countryside silence at night, but you’re still close enough to grab dinner at Il Frantoio if you don’t feel like eating at the hotel.

The property itself is one of those converted farm estates that they’ve done really well here in Maremma – you can tell it has history but they haven’t overdone the whole “rustic charm” thing. The rooms are spacious (I mean, properly spacious, not Italian-city-center spacious), and honestly, the beds were some of the most comfortable I’ve had in Italy. What really got me though was stepping out onto the terrace in the morning – you’re looking out over olive groves and vineyards with the sea just visible in the distance on clear days. The staff mentioned that on really clear mornings you can actually see Elba, and they weren’t kidding.

The food situation is solid – their restaurant focuses on local Maremma cuisine, and the chef clearly knows his way around wild boar and the excellent wines from this area. But here’s something I appreciated: they’re totally cool if you want to explore the local food scene. The guy at reception (Marco, I think?) gave us the best recommendations for places in Suvereto and even sketched out a little map to this family-run osteria that we never would have found otherwise. Parking is easy, which matters more than you’d think when you’re exploring all these hilltop towns. The pool area gets busy in the afternoons during summer, but early morning and evening it’s perfect – and the view from the pool deck is honestly worth the stay alone. One small thing: if you’re a light sleeper, maybe mention it when booking because some rooms face the main approach road, and while it’s not busy, you do hear the occasional car. The 9.1 rating makes total sense to me – it’s that sweet spot where everything just works without feeling stuffy or overly formal.
