Tenuta il Cerro
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Tenuta il Cerro, honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star property tucked away in the Tuscan countryside. The address just says “Cellavecchia snc.” — which basically means it’s so rural they don’t even bother with street numbers. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place special. The moment you drive through the gates, you’re surrounded by rolling hills and that quintessential Tuscan landscape that looks like it jumped straight out of a Renaissance painting.
Location & Setting
The estate sits just outside Vicchio, which is this charming little town in the Mugello valley that most tourists completely miss. I mean, everyone rushes to Florence (which is only about 35 kilometers away), but they’re sleeping on this area. Vicchio is actually Giotto’s birthplace — pretty cool bit of art history right there. The location really shines for couples; I can see why it gets such high marks for romantic getaways. There’s something about being surrounded by vineyards and olive groves that just makes everything feel more intimate.
The Property Experience
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic farmhouse feel while still offering proper amenities. The swimming pool area is gorgeous — it’s positioned so you’re basically swimming with a panoramic view of the Tuscan hills. They also offer bicycle rental, which is actually brilliant because the countryside around here is perfect for cycling. The roads are quiet, and you can easily pedal to nearby villages or just explore the wine country at your own pace.
Practical Comforts
One thing that’ll save you some headache — they have free private parking right on site, which is honestly a blessing when you’re dealing with rental cars and narrow Italian country roads. My room had this wonderful rustic-meets-modern vibe, with exposed beams and terracotta floors but all the contemporary comforts you’d want. The bathrooms are well-appointed, and the beds are genuinely comfortable (sometimes these historic properties can be a bit hit-or-miss on that front). The whole place feels like staying at a well-heeled friend’s country house rather than a typical hotel.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.4 rating, this place clearly knows what it’s doing. The staff strikes that perfect balance — they’re attentive without being intrusive, and they genuinely seem to care about making your stay memorable. The location rating of 8.7 makes total sense once you’re there; it’s remote enough to feel like an escape but still accessible to Florence, Siena, and other Tuscan highlights. If you’re looking for that authentic Tuscan experience without sacrificing comfort, and especially if you’re planning a romantic trip, Tenuta il Cerro delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a countryside retreat.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Tuscany before olive harvests fill pressing rooms with aromatic queues.

Guest Reviews
First and foremost, the accommodation was superb. With a group of 20 guests, all of us were delighted to find on-suite rooms that provided the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. Each room exuded a warm and inviting atmosphere, ensuring a comfortable and restful stay for all.
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the stunning pool. Surrounded by the picturesque Tuscan landscape, it became our haven of relaxation and joy during the sunny afternoons. Whether lounging by the poolside or taking a refreshing dip, we couldn't have asked for a more serene and idyllic setting.
What truly sets this holiday home apart is the thoughtfully equipped kitchen. With everything we needed to prepare meals for our large group, we enjoyed delightful family dinners and breakfasts together. The spacious dining area allowed us to savor every moment of togetherness while indulging in delicious homemade meals.
One of the standout moments of our stay was the wine tasting experience at the nearby winery. It was an absolute delight to explore the rich flavors of Tuscan wines while surrounded by the region's breathtaking vineyards.
A big thanks to our wonderful host, Elisa, who answered all our questions beforehand and made sure we had the best stay.
To top it all off, Elisa also recommended a local chef for lunch delivery, which made our stay even more hassle-free and enjoyable. We savored delectable Tuscan cuisine without leaving the comfort of our holiday home.
In summary, our stay in the Tuscan hills at this holiday home was nothing short of a dream come true. It's an oasis of beauty, comfort, and hospitality.

We organised a small family gathering so we booked the whole property - and both us and our guests loved Tenuta il Cerro!
The rooms were clean, spacious, well-equipped.
There are two kitchens that are so well-equipped and have glasses/plates/etc for 20+ people.
The surrounding is BEAUTIFUL! We loved the view of the hills, BIG pool with relaxation area, beautiful marble tables under the trees - a dreamy tuscan location.
There is a shop nearby (10 mins by car) where you can find everything you need.
They accept dogs.
