Suites Marilia Apartments – Suite Livorno Holiday Home Group
Livorno, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Suites Marilia? It’s actually in this quiet residential pocket of Livorno that most tourists never see – Via Urano Sarti feels like where locals live, not where they put up visitors. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to the port area, but there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation.” The building itself has that solid, unpretentious Italian apartment feel – you know, the kind where you can imagine actual families living upstairs.
The suites are honestly bigger than I expected, and I’ve stayed in plenty of so-called “apartment hotels” that turn out to be glorified hotel rooms with a hot plate shoved in the corner. These actually feel like someone’s well-kept apartment that they’ve temporarily lent you. The kitchens are properly equipped (I cooked pasta twice because, well, you’re in Italy), and the living areas don’t have that sterile hotel furniture look. What I really appreciated was the attention to details that matter when you’re staying more than a night or two – decent shower pressure, enough electrical outlets, and windows that actually open wide enough to let in that Mediterranean breeze without the noise from the main roads.
The neighborhood itself is sort of a hidden gem – there’s this little alimentari down the street where the owner remembers your face after day two, and honestly, the morning routine of grabbing fresh bread and coffee there became one of my favorite parts of the stay. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the more touristy waterfront area, but close enough to some genuinely good local restaurants that aren’t playing to the cruise ship crowd. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Italian coastal towns will tell you is not something to take for granted. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it nails what it is: a comfortable, well-run place where you can actually settle in for a few days and feel like you’re living in Livorno rather than just passing through.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Pool open later (it closes at 7 in June but at more than 30 degrees it would have been nice to stay in the pool longer
What could be improved: Having to wear a bathing cap in the pool!
What could be improved: Air conditioning made a noise every minute throughout night so it was difficult to sleep.
What could be improved: Strictness of the pool area
Would need a snack/pool bar as shops are a bit of a walk away
What could be improved: The pool rules. It is requerid to use a cap for go inside of the pool.
What could be improved: Given a long inventory list but there were missing items. No formal acknowledgement, so hopefully not attributed to you. They could have added a washing machine inside.
What could be improved: could have been nice if there is breakfast included
Pool area very clean and well laid out, I saw the guys taking a sample and testing the water each afternoon.
A little bar for some food/coffee would have been superb! Double room was beautiful and beds were comfortable.
Within walking distance of sea, bar, restaurant, supermarket and excellent Bliss Massage/beauty/ hairdresser in the shopping complex.
What could be improved: The single room was pretty small dark due to the windows being small and high up. Don't suppose there is much can be done about that.
