Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of Florence hotels, and Soprarno Suites honestly surprised me. Via Maggio isn’t one of those touristy streets everyone talks about – it’s actually in the Santo Spirito neighborhood, which means you’re on the “other side” of the Arno from all the major attractions. But here’s the thing: that’s exactly why it works so well. You get this authentic Florentine neighborhood vibe without the crowds constantly streaming past your window. I mean, you can walk to the Ponte Vecchio in maybe eight minutes, but you’re staying somewhere that feels like actual Florence, not a tourist theme park.

The suites themselves are what really got me though. These aren’t your typical cramped European hotel rooms – they’ve got proper living spaces with kitchenettes that you’ll actually use. The design hits that sweet spot between modern comfort and respecting the building’s character (you know how some renovated places feel sterile?). The beds are legitimately comfortable, and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which… well, if you’ve traveled around Italy, you know that’s not always a given. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. Santo Spirito has this lovely evening energy – locals hanging out at the little bars and trattorias – but it doesn’t turn into a party zone like some areas closer to the Duomo.

The staff clearly knows their stuff about the neighborhood, and they’re not just giving you the standard tourist spiel. They pointed me toward this little market on Via Santo Spirito where locals actually shop, and honestly, that became one of my favorite morning routines. The whole area has this workshop culture – you’ll see artisans doing leather work and furniture restoration right on the street level. It’s pretty cool to witness that side of Florence that most visitors miss entirely. And practically speaking, you’re perfectly positioned for both sides of the river. Want to hit the Uffizi? Easy walk across Ponte Santa Trinita. Craving some of the best gelato in the city? Gelateria La Carraia is basically around the corner. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s one of those places that just gets the details right without trying too hard to impress you.

The suite was so stylishly furnished with every detail being considered to make it the right balance of luxurious and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable and the surprise addition of the office / wardrobe space was a real bonus. The location and layout of the suites means the Soprano feel like a very calm space to retreat from the crowds of the historic centre (although only a short walk across the bridge). And I was given the warmest of welcomes by Viviana.

This was one of my favorite hotel experiences ever-- everything was wonderful! The decor was eclectic and also homey, our room felt very warm and cozy. The bathroom was huge and everything was so clean. The welcoming and friendly staff made sure we knew we were right at home. The included breakfast was delicious. The staff contacted us before our stay to explain how the parking worked in the area and even made us a parking reservation.

The room felt luxurious, stylish, comfy, and inspiring! Perfect location in wonderful neighborhood away from the touristy crowds but close enough to walk to everything. The large shower for two was a nice touch too. Tall ceilings. Large bright walk in closet. Wonderful A/C kept our room cool in hot August Florence as well.
