Soggiorno Pezzati
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Soggiorno Pezzati? The moment I walked through those doors on Via San Zanobi, it felt like I’d discovered one of those places that somehow balances being properly Florentine without trying too hard. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Duomo – and I’m talking a leisurely stroll, not a power walk – but the street itself has this lovely residential feel that most tourists never experience. The staff actually remembered my name by the second day, which honestly doesn’t happen much in Florence anymore, especially not in the city center.
The rooms have that perfect mix of old-world charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. Mine overlooked a quiet courtyard (thank god, because Via San Zanobi can get a bit lively in the evenings), and the bed was one of those situations where you actually sleep in instead of waking up at dawn from street noise. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious – I’ve stayed in supposedly fancier places where you practically had to step outside to change your mind. What I really appreciated were the little touches that showed someone was thinking: proper reading lights, enough outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the hairdryer, and actual hangers instead of those security ones that never work properly.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Florence rather than just visiting it. San Lorenzo market is literally around the corner – and I mean the real market where locals shop, not just the tourist leather stalls outside. There’s this tiny osteria called Il Gatto e la Volpe about two blocks away that serves the best ribollita I had during my entire stay, and the woman who runs Soggiorno Pezzati was the one who told me about it. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you get when you stay somewhere that’s been family-run for years. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings when the university students and young professionals who actually live here are heading home, giving you this authentic slice of daily Florentine life that’s pretty magical. Sure, you’ll still encounter tourist groups heading to and from the main sites, but honestly, that’s unavoidable anywhere in central Florence. The difference is that here, you get to retreat to this calm, well-run place where the Wi-Fi actually works and someone’s genuinely happy to help you figure out which bus to take to Fiesole.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: It is a two flight walk up but this was mentioned when booking so for me it was ok!
I was struggling with the coffee machine, luckily someone was there to help, maybe leave a little instruction with the machine :)
What could be improved: Dicey neighborhood with some construction sites nearby. A little off the beaten path. Cleaning staff took my towels after the first day. On third day, I requested them anyway. Up 50 stairs on long, hot days.
What could be improved: No issues
Location and comfort
What could be improved: Noisy early in the morning by other guests.
There was no message requesting respect for other guests' rest hours.
As my room was adjacent to the shared kitchen, it's probably where the noise is most noticeable.
What could be improved: Very small bathroom.
What could be improved: The shower is very small but I’m also aware that is down to the limitations of the building.
What could be improved: The ad says there is parking but there is not. The parking available is in a garage nearby which cost us about €40 per night. This made the stay much more expensive than expected.
What could be improved: Nothing
