Siena Vip B&B
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of B&Bs in Tuscany, and Siena Vip B&B genuinely surprised me in the best way possible. Right off the bat, the location is just… well, it’s pretty brilliant actually. You’re basically tucked into this corner spot where Via del Costone meets Via Fontebranda, and honestly, most tourists have no idea they’re walking past one of the city’s best-kept secrets. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Fonte Gaia in Piazza del Campo – I timed it because I’m that kind of person – but you’re far enough away that you don’t get the constant stream of tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM.
The whole vibe here feels more like staying at a friend’s beautifully renovated townhouse than a typical hotel. The owners clearly put thought into every detail, from the way the morning light filters through these gorgeous old windows to the fact that they actually provide decent coffee (not that instant stuff you get at some places). What really got me was how quiet it stays at night – you know how Siena can get pretty lively during peak season, but this little pocket stays surprisingly peaceful. The rooms themselves have this perfect balance of historical character and modern comfort. The beds are actually good – like, really good – which matters more than people admit when you’re spending your days walking on cobblestones. And the bathrooms? Clean, updated, proper water pressure. Sometimes it’s the simple things that make or break a stay.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the local knowledge. The staff genuinely knows Siena, not just the obvious tourist spots but the kind of insider details that make a difference. They’ll tell you which entrance to use for the Duomo to avoid the crowds, or where to grab the best gelato that’s not overrun with tourists (hint: it’s not the place everyone talks about). Parking can be tricky in this part of Siena – actually, parking is tricky everywhere in Siena – but they help you figure out the closest spots and explain the whole ZTL situation so you don’t end up with a surprise ticket later. The 8.8 rating honestly makes sense when you experience the place. It’s not trying to be some luxury resort, but it nails everything it sets out to do. You get that authentic Sienese experience without sacrificing comfort, and the price point feels fair for what you’re getting. I’d definitely come back, which is saying something because I rarely stay at the same place twice when I’m traveling.
