Residenza d’epoca Poliziano
First Impressions
Walking up to Residenza d’epoca Poliziano, you immediately sense you’re stepping into something special — this four-star gem sits on a quiet street that feels worlds away from Florence’s tourist crowds, yet you’re actually right in the heart of everything. The building itself has that understated Florentine elegance that locals appreciate, where the real beauty reveals itself slowly rather than shouting for attention. I mean, the address alone tells you something — Via Agnolo Poliziano is named after the Renaissance poet, and honestly, that literary connection feels fitting for a place that manages to be both refined and genuinely welcoming.
Location & Neighborhood
The Santa Maria Novella area is where you want to be if you actually want to experience Florence rather than just photograph it. You’re a pleasant stroll from the train station (which sounds touristy but is actually convenient when you’re hauling luggage), yet the neighborhood has this authentic residential feel that couples particularly seem to love — they’ve rated the location 8.5 for romantic getaways, and I can see why. The nearby streets are lined with local cafes where Florentines grab their morning espresso, and you know what? You can walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, but you’ll also discover those hidden artisan workshops that guidebooks somehow miss.
The Experience
What strikes me about Residenza d’epoca Poliziano is how it balances that historic Florentine character with genuine comfort — this isn’t one of those places where you’re sleeping in a museum. The staff actually knows the neighborhood and can point you toward that perfect little trattoria or tell you when the Uffizi lines are shortest. The rooms feel thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated, with details that make sense for how people actually travel today. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try too hard to impress but simply delivers on the essentials really well.
Why It Works for Different Travelers
Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend or a cultural deep-dive, the location really does work in your favor — that 8.5 location score isn’t just a number, it reflects how easy it is to slip into Florence’s rhythm from here. Business travelers appreciate being close to the train connections, while leisure visitors love having authentic neighborhoods to explore beyond the main tourist circuit. The upscale feel means you’re comfortable bringing clients or celebrating anniversaries, but it’s not so formal that you feel out of place in your walking shoes after a day of sightseeing.
Why Guests Love It
That 8.8 rating tells the real story — guests consistently mention feeling like they’ve discovered something special rather than just booked another hotel room. The combination of being in Florence’s top-rated area while maintaining that intimate, residential feel is genuinely hard to find. People return here, which honestly says more than any review could, and they recommend it to friends who are looking for that sweet spot between location, comfort, and authentic Florentine character. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re staying in Florence rather than just visiting it.

Guest Reviews
The room itself was clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful, storing our suitcases and providing extra pillows on request. The inclusive mini bar was a lovely and welcoming addition.
Very generous mini bar and also the room is quite luxurious. The room alone gets 10 out of 10.
