First Impressions

Walking up to Ricasoli Garden Relais on Via Ricasoli, you immediately sense you’ve found something special. This four-star boutique property sits right in the thick of Florence’s historic center — I mean, you’re literally steps from the Duomo and the Accademia Gallery. The entrance has this understated elegance that feels authentically Florentine rather than trying too hard to impress tourists. You know what struck me most? The way they’ve managed to create a sense of tranquility despite being surrounded by one of Italy’s busiest cultural districts.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about Ricasoli Garden Relais — the location isn’t just convenient, it’s transformative. You can roll out of bed and be at Michelangelo’s David in three minutes, or grab morning coffee at a local bar before the tour groups descend. The San Marco neighborhood has this perfect balance where you’re close enough to everything major but tucked away from the chaos of the main tourist drags. Honestly, couples seem to get this immediately (they rate the location 9.7, which makes total sense). Evening strolls to the Duomo become spontaneous rather than planned expeditions, and that changes how you experience Florence entirely.

The Rooms and Atmosphere

The accommodations at Ricasoli Garden Relais feel more like staying in a refined Florentine residence than a typical hotel. Each room has character — some with original architectural details, others with views that remind you why people have been falling in love with this city for centuries. The design strikes that tricky balance between historical charm and modern comfort without feeling forced or overly themed. I particularly appreciated how quiet the rooms stay despite the central location, which isn’t always easy to achieve in Florence’s stone-walled buildings.

The Garden Experience

The “Garden” part of the name isn’t just marketing — there’s actually a lovely outdoor space that becomes your private retreat from Florence’s intensity. It’s not huge, but it’s thoughtfully designed and gives you somewhere to decompress with an evening aperitivo or morning espresso. During warmer months, this space transforms the entire hotel experience, offering something most central Florence accommodations simply can’t provide. The garden also explains why the property feels so serene despite being surrounded by bustling streets and major attractions.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets Ricasoli Garden Relais apart is how it solves the classic Florence dilemma — you want to be in the heart of everything without sacrificing peace and quality. The staff understands the neighborhood intimately and can point you toward experiences beyond the obvious tourist checklist. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or a cultural deep-dive, this place gives you the best of both worlds. The 9.3 rating reflects what I experienced: a property that delivers on its promises without overselling itself, in a location that makes every day in Florence feel effortless and authentic.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Tuscany around Montepulciano for wine cellars, artisan cheese shops, and jazz nights.

The location is the best. It is 5 minute walk to Duomo. For dinner, most restaurants in Duomo are expensive and only tourist places. If you go 10 minutes to North or west of this hotel, you will find good and less tourist style restaurants.
My wife and I had Doumo or Uffizi tour and came back to the hotel room to re-energize, then went to another tour.
Perfect loction for tour. Of course my room was very clean.
The host, Neri is super kind. You may ask anything you want.

We had an amazing room, big with a lounge area and complimentary hot drinks and snacks. The man behind the desk was very nice. The breakfast vouchers were great (2 pasties, a hot and cold drink per person) and the cafe was a few minutes walk from the hotel.

The location was great, walking distance to the Duomo and other attractions. The breakfast vouchers were convenient, the cafe is close to the hotel.

The courtyard was a nice space to unwind during the day and evenings.
