Relais Condotta
Florence, ItalyFirst Impressions
Walking up to Relais Condotta, you’d honestly never guess what awaits inside from the modest street entrance. I mean, this is Florence‘s historic center we’re talking about — buildings here don’t exactly scream “boutique hotel” from the outside. But step through that doorway on Via della Condotta, and you’ll find yourself in one of those perfectly restored Florentine gems that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto a movie set. The intimate scale hits you immediately — this isn’t some sprawling chain property, but rather a carefully curated space that actually feels like someone’s elegant Tuscan home.
Location Perfection
You know what’s crazy about staying at Relais Condotta? You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Uffizi Gallery. I’m not exaggerating — I timed it. The Ponte Vecchio is right there, Palazzo Pitti is an easy stroll across the river, and the Duomo? Maybe five minutes if you walk slowly and stop for gelato. The thing is, despite being in the absolute heart of everything, the street itself stays surprisingly quiet at night.
Couples seem to get this — the location feedback shows they rate it incredibly highly, and honestly, I can see why. There’s something romantic about being able to wander back from dinner without dealing with crowds or long walks.
The Rooms
Each room at Relais Condotta feels different — and I mean that in the best way possible. These aren’t cookie-cutter hotel rooms but spaces that actually reflect the building’s character. The ceilings have those beautiful exposed beams you’d expect in a historic Florentine palazzo, and the furnishings strike that perfect balance between antique charm and modern comfort. What really impressed me was the attention to detail — quality linens, thoughtful lighting, and bathrooms that manage to feel both contemporary and in keeping with the building’s age. Some rooms overlook the narrow street (which, again, stays pleasantly quiet), while others face interior courtyards.
The Neighborhood Experience
Living in this part of Florence, even temporarily, gives you a completely different perspective on the city. Sure, you’re surrounded by tourist attractions, but you’re also in a real neighborhood where locals still live and work. There’s a fantastic little alimentari around the corner where you can grab provisions, and some of Florence’s best restaurants are literally on your doorstep — not the touristy ones, but places where you’ll hear more Italian than English. The morning walk to get coffee becomes this lovely ritual, and you start to feel less like a visitor and more like a temporary resident.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.2 rating doesn’t surprise me at all — Relais Condotta delivers on what most travelers actually want from a Florence stay. It’s intimate without being cramped, historic without being stuffy, and positioned so perfectly that you can maximize your time exploring rather than commuting. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, offering recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. For couples especially, there’s something undeniably romantic about the whole setup — the narrow medieval streets, the sense of discovery, the feeling that you’re staying somewhere truly special rather than just convenient.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: No parking but that is everywhere in Florence Center
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was great!
What could be improved: Staff doesn't help with the luggage, whether while checking in or checking out. We had many bags and it requires multiple trips to take the bags to the hotel using the small lift.
What could be improved: There was some noise from the street - just people talking whilst they were walking. We always sleep with a white noise app so it didn't bother us but I did notice there were ear plugs in the bathroom so I assume it must be an issue for some people.
What could be improved: The noise! Not the fault of the property, but still worth mentioning so others are aware. It's the one thing that would potentially stop me from returning. They do provide ear plugs, but I can't sleep with them. The noise was beyond what I expected, and went literally all throughout the night and into the morning. The street noise amplifies right up the building, and was really extreme. People screaming, yelling, partying, street cleaning trucks etc.
