The rooms are what you’d expect from a 5-star property, but it’s the little touches that got me: the custom toiletries that actually smell amazing, windows that open onto the Arno so you can hear the river at night, and – this is key – really good blackout curtains because the summer sun here is no joke.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re literally a two-minute walk to Ponte Vecchio (which gets absolutely mobbed during the day, but at sunrise? Pure magic). Via de’ Tornabuoni is right around the corner if you need your Gucci fix, and you can walk to Santo Spirito in about ten minutes when you want to escape the tourist crowds. The staff actually knows the area – ask them about dinner reservations and they’ll steer you toward places where Florentines actually eat, not just the spots with English menus. Fair warning though: this location means you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but honestly, it’s just the sound of Florence being Florence. By evening it quiets down, and there’s something kind of romantic about falling asleep to the occasional footsteps on the cobblestones below.
