Poggio Baronti B&B
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Poggio Baronti B&B, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a simple countryside property. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you. This four-star gem sits quietly on Via Dell’Eremo in Bagno a Ripoli, and there’s something immediately calming about the whole setup. The fact that there’s parking right on-site was already a win in my book β anyone who’s tried to navigate Italian hill towns with a rental car knows exactly what I mean.
The Perfect Tuscan Escape
What struck me most about this place is how it manages to feel authentically Tuscan without being touristy about it. The location is actually brilliant β you’re close enough to Florence that you can easily day-trip into the city, but far enough out that you get those rolling hill views and that peaceful countryside vibe. I mean, couples clearly get it since they rate the location a solid 9.5, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about waking up in the Tuscan hills, especially when you’re not dealing with city noise or crowds of tourists right outside your door.
Sleep Like You Mean It
Let me tell you about the beds β they’re seriously comfortable. I’m usually pretty picky about mattresses (too soft and my back kills me, too firm and I toss all night), but whatever they’ve got going on here just works. The room itself has that cozy B&B feel without being cluttered or overly decorated. Clean lines, good lighting, and honestly, after a day of exploring, all you want is a space that feels like a proper retreat. The whole property has this 9.6 rating for a reason, and the sleeping situation is definitely part of it.
Local Knowledge
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I arrived β Bagno a Ripoli is one of those places where locals actually live and work, not just a tourist stop. You’ll find real trattorias where the menu changes based on what’s seasonal, and the morning coffee culture is still intact. The hosts at Poggio Baronti seem to understand this balance perfectly. They’re not trying to recreate some fantasy version of Tuscany; they’re just letting you experience the real thing. Plus, being slightly outside Florence means you can actually afford to eat well without breaking the bank.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back (and rating this place so highly) is probably the combination of genuine hospitality and that hard-to-find sweet spot between accessibility and authenticity. You’re not staying in some massive hotel where you’re just another room number, but you’re also not roughing it in some remote farmhouse. The recent guests who rated the location a 9.3 clearly appreciate what I discovered β that sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you’re close enough to everything but still feel like you’ve found your own little corner of Italy. It’s the kind of place where you actually sleep well, wake up refreshed, and feel like you’re experiencing Tuscany the way it’s meant to be experienced.

Tomaso was the best host! Very polite, friendly and always there to help with anything we needed!
The owner is very friendly and polite. He suggested a convenient parking in Florence.
Breakfast was testy and cooked heartily.
Thank you!
To get into florence there is a bus service that runs right into the centre about 500mts away, so you can just hop onto that. There is a good bar in the village and the local pizza restaraunt serves the best pizza we had in Italy.
