Podere Vignanova Accommodations & SPA
Castagneto Carducci, ItalyYou know what really gets me about Podere Vignanova? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to the hype – and honestly, with a 9.3 rating, I was expecting to find something wrong with it. But driving up via Accattapane (which, by the way, is this narrow country road that makes you wonder if your GPS is playing tricks on you), you realize this converted farmhouse genuinely earned those stars.
The whole setup feels like someone’s wealthy Italian uncle decided to share his countryside retreat. I mean, we’re talking about proper Tuscan hills here – not the touristy Chianti corridor that everyone hits, but the quieter Maremma area where locals actually live. Castagneto Carducci itself is this sleepy wine town that most people blow past on their way to the coast, but that’s exactly why staying here works. You’re maybe twenty minutes from those gorgeous Bolgheri vineyards (seriously, book a tasting at Ornellaia if you can swing it), and the beaches at Marina di Castagneto are close enough for an afternoon escape when you need a break from all that rolling countryside.
What really struck me about the property is how they’ve kept that authentic farmhouse vibe while sneaking in genuinely luxurious touches. The spa – and I’m usually skeptical of hotel spas – actually feels integrated into the whole experience rather than just tacked on. There’s something about soaking in those thermal pools after spending the day exploring local wineries that just… works. The rooms have this perfect balance of rustic beams and modern comfort, though I’ll be honest, the WiFi can be spotty in some of the older sections (not necessarily a bad thing if you’re trying to disconnect). Parking is straightforward, which matters more than you’d think when you’re navigating these country roads with a rental car. The staff clearly knows the area – they steered us toward this incredible little osteria in Bolgheri that we never would have found otherwise, and gave us the real scoop on which vineyards do walk-in tastings versus the ones you need to book months ahead. Check-in was refreshingly relaxed, none of that stuffy hotel formality, just genuine enthusiasm for helping you make the most of your stay. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your visit because you realize you’ve found something special – not just a hotel, but a proper base for exploring this incredible corner of Tuscany that doesn’t get nearly enough attention.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: You need a car to be able to travel freely since its remote location makes you dependant on the one taxi service in the village.
What could be improved: A Pool would have made it perfect
What could be improved: Really have no complaints. If anything , it’s a little difficult to find especially if you approach from the opposite direction of the signage . And you must drive to dinner etc since nothing is in walking distance. That said , it’s a country location and that’s to be expected
What could be improved: All was excellent
What could be improved: Everything was up to our pleasure.
What could be improved: Nothing
