Podere Fontanino
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Podere Fontanino, I honestly wasn’t sure I’d found the right place — it’s tucked away in the Tuscan countryside at località Stoppe d’Arca, about 10 minutes from central Arezzo. But that’s exactly what makes this four-star property so special. The restored farmhouse sits among rolling hills and olive groves, and you immediately understand why couples rate the location so highly. There’s this sense of complete escape, yet you’re still close enough to explore one of Tuscany’s most underrated cities.
The Setting
What struck me most was how authentic everything feels here — this isn’t some manufactured “Tuscan experience” but an actual working farm that’s been thoughtfully converted into a boutique hotel. The stone buildings date back centuries, and you can see the care that’s gone into preserving the original character while adding modern comforts. I mean, when you’re sitting on the terrace with views stretching toward the Apennines, you sort of forget that Arezzo’s medieval center is just a short drive away. The parking is right on-site and free, which honestly makes exploring the region so much easier than staying in the city center.
Accommodation Experience
My room was in the main farmhouse, and the attention to detail was impressive — exposed beams, terracotta floors, and windows that frame the countryside perfectly. The furnishings blend rustic charm with contemporary comfort, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a historic building. You know what I appreciated most? The silence at night. After years of staying in city hotels, falling asleep to complete quiet (well, maybe some crickets) was actually remarkable. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the linens have that crisp, fresh quality that makes you want to linger in the morning.
Dining and Amenities
Breakfast here is something special — they serve it in a stone-walled dining room that opens onto the gardens, and the Italian buffet features local products that actually taste like they came from the surrounding farms. Fresh pastries, local cheeses, and coffee that’s strong enough to fuel your day of exploring. The staff clearly takes pride in showcasing regional specialties, and they’re happy to recommend local wineries or suggest hiking trails in the area. There’s also a spa on-site, which was perfect after a day of walking through Arezzo’s steep medieval streets.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.9 rating really makes sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s that rare combination of authentic atmosphere, genuine hospitality, and a location that gives you the best of both worlds. You’re surrounded by classic Tuscan landscape, but Arezzo’s treasures (including Piero della Francesca’s frescoes and that amazing monthly antique market) are easily accessible. The property feels intimate without being cramped, and the staff strikes that perfect balance of being helpful without hovering. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with this part of Italy.

We loved the homemade breakfasts and local wine selection they had. The view from the pool is beautiful and was just what we were looking for in a relaxing stay in the countryside.
Especial thanks for Andrea for rescuing us with a broken car:)
The pool and garden were very relaxing. The pool has an amazing view and is being cleaned every morning by the owner. It’s better than on the pictures
