Pink Wolf
Florence, ItalySo I stumbled onto Pink Wolf during my third trip to Florence – honestly, the name alone made me curious enough to book it. It’s tucked away on Via Fiume, which is actually perfect because you’re literally a five-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella station, but the street itself is surprisingly quiet. I mean, you’d expect total chaos being that close to the main train hub, but once you duck into the hotel, there’s this immediate sense of… I don’t know, urban sanctuary? The building has that solid Florentine feel – thick walls that actually keep the street noise out, which is something you definitely can’t say about every place in the city center.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their stuff about the neighborhood. The guy at check-in – Marco, I think? – didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. He marked up this hand-drawn thing showing me where to grab the best cornetto in the morning (there’s this tiny place around the corner that opens at 6 AM), and honestly, his restaurant recommendations were spot-on. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent Wi-Fi that actually works when you need to upload photos. Nothing revolutionary, but everything works the way it should. The shower pressure is surprisingly good for Italy, and the AC kept up during that brutal heat wave in July. One small thing that bugged me initially was the elevator – it’s one of those old-school European ones that takes forever and makes interesting noises, but you know what, it became part of the charm after a day or two.
The location is honestly the real win here. You’re close enough to walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist madness that you can actually breathe. Via Fiume connects to some of these smaller streets where actual Florentines live and work, so you get glimpses of real city life instead of just endless souvenir shops. I’d catch the morning commute sounds – scooters, coffee machines firing up, people actually speaking Italian instead of posing for Instagram. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but it delivers on what matters. Good sleep, helpful people, and a location that lets you experience Florence without feeling like you’re trapped in a theme park version of it. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like a smart local choice than a tourist trap, Pink Wolf hits that sweet spot.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Shower not really working as well as it could.
What could be improved: The separate bathroom, the codes & keys
What could be improved: There is a private bathroom for the room, but it is not en suite which took a bit of getting used to and preparing for (remembering to take the key). Shared commons area is close to the room, which could be noisy if other guests were not considerate.
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Shower pressure was low and drain was slow to empty.
The stuff can be left in the public area after checkout.
What could be improved: The breakfast wasn't worth it and we went out to buy our own.
Coffee and cornflakes provided, but there is no milk for them so remember to bring your own milk or whatever you'd prefer.
