The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent Wi-Fi that actually works when you need to upload photos. Nothing revolutionary, but everything works the way it should. The shower pressure is surprisingly good for Italy, and the AC kept up during that brutal heat wave in July. One small thing that bugged me initially was the elevator – it’s one of those old-school European ones that takes forever and makes interesting noises, but you know what, it became part of the charm after a day or two.

The location is honestly the real win here. You’re close enough to walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist madness that you can actually breathe. Via Fiume connects to some of these smaller streets where actual Florentines live and work, so you get glimpses of real city life instead of just endless souvenir shops. I’d catch the morning commute sounds – scooters, coffee machines firing up, people actually speaking Italian instead of posing for Instagram. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but it delivers on what matters. Good sleep, helpful people, and a location that lets you experience Florence without feeling like you’re trapped in a theme park version of it.
