Eco Urban B&B
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Eco Urban B&B? The fact that it’s tucked away on Via Fiume, which is basically this quiet side street that somehow manages to feel completely separate from the tourist chaos, even though you’re literally a three-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella station. I mean, when I first turned onto the street from Via Nazionale, I actually thought I’d taken a wrong turn β it’s that peaceful.
The place itself has this really thoughtful vibe that you don’t always get with eco-friendly hotels. They’ve managed to do the whole sustainable thing without making it feel like you’re camping indoors, if that makes sense. The rooms have these gorgeous reclaimed wood details and the linens are honestly some of the softest I’ve slept on in Italy. What really impressed me was how they’ve soundproofed everything β and trust me, this matters because Florence can get pretty lively at night, especially during summer. The owner, Marco, actually walked me through some of their green initiatives during check-in (which was refreshingly quick, by the way), and you can tell this isn’t just marketing fluff for them.
Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re there β you’re positioned perfectly between the main train station and the historic center, but you’re also right near this little cluster of local spots that tourists usually miss. There’s this tiny alimentari around the corner where the owner will slice you the most incredible prosciutto, and honestly, grabbing breakfast supplies there felt more authentic than any hotel breakfast buffet. The walk to the Duomo takes maybe twelve minutes if you’re strolling, and you’ll pass through some of those narrow medieval streets that make Florence feel magical. Plus β and this is huge if you’re arriving by train β you can actually walk from Santa Maria Novella with luggage without wanting to die from exhaustion.
I stayed there in late September, which turned out to be perfect timing because the weather was still warm but the summer crowds had thinned out. The staff mentioned that August gets pretty busy (obviously), but they keep the common areas really comfortable even when they’re full. Speaking of which, there’s this lovely little courtyard where you can actually sit with a glass of wine in the evening β something that’s surprisingly hard to find in central Florence unless you want to pay tourist prices. The whole place just feels like someone put real thought into what travelers actually need, rather than what looks good in photos. It’s got that 4-star comfort level without any of the stuffiness, and honestly, with a 9 rating, it’s probably going to book up fast once more people discover it.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Noisy at night and street at night felt a little unsafe.
The staff were exceptional - Anna, Kristel and Dina couldnβt do enough to help us. Every request was met with a smile. They were amazing!
I would definitely go back to the hotel. Great value for money.
What could be improved: The street where the building is situated, Via Fiume, was dirty and smelled of urine. In the middle of the day I saw a junkie (I presume) sitting on the curb and injecting himself. He wasnβt even trying to hide it. There were other seemingly unemployed people hanging around at the end of the street but we were never accosted by anyone.
It would help the hotel if the city cleaned up the street.
What could be improved: The entrance to the building
What could be improved: Nothing really
What could be improved: Pillows too hard
What could be improved: N/a
What could be improved: Breakfast could have been a bit better
