Hotel Description
You know what’s funny about Pisa? Everyone thinks it’s just the leaning tower and tourist traps, but tucked away on Borgo Stretto – honestly one of the most charming pedestrian streets in the historic center – there’s this incredible penthouse that completely changed how I think about staying in the city. The Nella Torre del Poschi isn’t your typical hotel room; it’s more like borrowing a really sophisticated friend’s apartment for the weekend.
The moment you step inside, you realize this place has serious character. We’re talking original architectural details mixed with modern touches that actually work together (which, let’s be real, doesn’t always happen in these historic Italian buildings). But here’s the thing that sold me completely – that roof terrace. I mean, you’re literally looking out over medieval rooftops and catching glimpses of the Arno River, and if you crane your neck just right, yes, you can see the famous tower without fighting through crowds of selfie-stick wielding tourists. The terrace becomes this perfect little sanctuary, especially in the early morning when the city’s still waking up and you can hear the church bells echoing off the old stones.
Location-wise, you’re golden here. Borgo Stretto is where locals actually shop and eat – there’s this fantastic little enoteca just two doors down that stays open late, and the morning market on Piazza delle Vettovaglie is maybe a three-minute walk. The street itself is pedestrian-only, so no worrying about traffic noise, though you will hear the occasional late-night conversation drifting up from the cobblestones below (honestly, it adds to the charm). Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – the closest garage is near Piazza Carrara, about a ten-minute walk – but once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car for anything. The train station’s walkable if you’re heading to Florence or Rome, and even the airport bus stops right in the center.
What really impressed me was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The kitchen actually has proper equipment if you want to grab ingredients from the market, the wifi works everywhere (including the terrace), and there are enough power outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices. The building’s old, sure, so the elevator’s tiny and the stairs can be a workout, but it’s all part of the authentic experience. Plus, the staff clearly knows their stuff – they gave us recommendations that felt genuinely local, not the usual tourist handbook suggestions.
The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you experience the whole package. It’s not just about having a nice place to sleep; it’s about feeling like you’re actually living in Pisa for a few days rather than just visiting. The combination of that incredible terrace, the prime location on one of the city’s best streets, and the apartment-style setup creates something pretty special. If you’re the type who’d rather sip wine on a private rooftop than hang out in a hotel lobby, this is absolutely your spot.

This apartment is excellent! Elisa, the host is very fast to respond and extremely helpful. The apartment is in the medieval area of Pisa on a street full of shops and restaurants. The front door is a large beautiful double door with lift to the apartment. There is still one flight of stairs to reach the living accommodation. The lounge and kitchen is fantastic. The bedrooms are large, one has an en suite and the other has a shower room next to it. The room terrace has a sofa and table and chairs with fabulous 360 views. Would highly recommended staying here!

Excellent location right in the heart of Pisa. Restaurants literally outside the door. Quiet at night. Brilliant views from the covered roof terrace. Photos don’t do the accommodation justice. Very clean and well kept. Would have liked to have stayed longer! Highly recommended.

Very friendly and helpful host. Great apartment and location. The garage is a bit of a challenge to find and it's a tight fit for a medium sized car, so a compact car would be best.
