Messori Suites
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Messori Suites? It’s actually tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Campo Di Marte that most tourists completely miss. I mean, Via Antonio Giacomini isn’t exactly a street you’d stumble upon while wandering around the Duomo, but honestly – that’s the whole point. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the madness of centro storico, which sounds far until you realize you can actually sleep at night without drunk tour groups singing outside your window.
The suites themselves feel more like staying in a well-designed apartment than a typical hotel room. There’s this lived-in quality to the furnishings – not shabby, just… real, you know? The kitchenettes are actually functional (I made coffee there every morning instead of hunting for an open café), and the beds are honestly some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered in Italy. The owners clearly put thought into the small stuff too – proper blackout curtains, decent water pressure, and thank god, air conditioning that actually works during Florence’s brutal summer months. The breakfast situation is simple but solid – they set up this spread in the common area that feels more like a friend’s house than a hotel buffet.
What really sells this place though is the neighborhood vibe. You’re walking distance to Mercato delle Pulci (the flea market that locals actually shop at, not the tourist trap at San Lorenzo), and there’s this incredible little osteria called Da Burde just around the corner where you’ll be the only non-Italian in the room. The Campo di Marte train station is literally a five-minute walk, which means day trips to places like Arezzo or Siena are stupidly easy. And here’s something nobody tells you – parking is actually manageable in this area, unlike the nightmare of trying to drive anywhere near the historic center. The only downside? Well, if you’re the type who needs to stumble out of your hotel directly onto the Ponte Vecchio, this isn’t your spot. But honestly, after dealing with the crowds and chaos of central Florence during the day, coming back to this quiet corner felt like a genuine retreat. The 9.2 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night here – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Florence, but it absolutely nails what it sets out to do.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Parking on premise was a little expensive
What could be improved: Shower large and functional but needs some attention. Breakfast, surprisingly plain and monotonous, probably the only thing worse than expected (whoever is doing the eggs, please ask someone to show you how not to cauterise them).
What could be improved: nothing to complain about
What could be improved: The bathroom door was just a glass that didn't close tight so for privacy you had to put a curtain. A design decision I am still struggling to understand.
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Breakfast should be higher quality.
What could be improved: The sink was clogged, but nothing else.
