Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of Florence hotels, and Maison Santa Croce honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. You know how most places in this part of town can feel either stuffy or trying too hard? This one actually gets it right. It’s tucked on Via Magliabechi, which is this quiet little street that locals use as a shortcut between the Santa Croce area and the center, so you’re literally steps from the basilica but not drowning in tour groups at 7 AM.

The building itself has that effortless Florentine elegance – you walk in and immediately notice the original stone details mixed with really thoughtful modern touches. I mean, they didn’t just slap some contemporary furniture into a historic space and call it a day. The rooms have this warm, lived-in quality that makes you want to actually unpack instead of living out of your suitcase. What really struck me was the attention to small things – proper reading lights (thank god), windows that actually open so you can hear the city waking up, and bathrooms with enough counter space for your stuff. The 9.2 rating makes total sense when you experience these details yourself.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the location gives you the authentic neighborhood feel without the isolation. You’re a three-minute walk from Santa Croce – and I actually timed it – but you’re also close enough to places like All’Antico Vinaio (prepare to wait in line, but it’s worth it) and that little morning market on Sant’Ambrogio that most tourists never find. The staff clearly knows the area well too; they pointed me toward this tiny osteria on Via de’ Benci that I never would have discovered otherwise. Honestly, staying here felt like having a knowledgeable friend’s apartment rather than just another hotel room. The only minor thing I’d mention is that being on a pedestrian street means you’ll hear some chatter from people heading to dinner, but it quiets down by 11 PM or so – and frankly, that’s part of the charm of being in a real Florentine neighborhood rather than some sanitized tourist bubble.

The breakfast was good. They made coffee for us. The selections and variety were pretty good, I thought. It's a mixed of continental and American. There were meat, cheese and eggs. They had fruits and vegetables and many sweet pastries and croissants.

Stylish B&B, in the heart of Santa Croche and an easy, short walk to all main attractions in Florence. First class breakfast, gorgeous interior design, very comfortable and good sized rooms, we were in the King Deluxe. All staff very friendly, responsive and efficient. It was great, loved our stay. Will definitely return.

We loved everything! From the moment we walked in, the staff were absolutely fabulous! Daniel greeted us warmly (thank you for the espresso ☕️ upon arrival) and the team arranged a taxi upon check out. The room was spacious, clean, and modern with a historical charm. The rooms were made up everyday.

The location was perfect! There was a piazza next door with cute little restaurants, and the main centre of Florence (think the Duomo) is about a 10 min walk. We will be definitely be back! Highly recommend!
