Lunam Penthouse in centre
Lucca, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Lucca, and the Lunam Penthouse actually surprised me in the best way possible. Via Michele Rosi isn’t one of those touristy streets you’ll find in every guidebook – it’s tucked into a residential area that feels properly Italian, you know? You’ll hear actual locals chatting from their windows in the morning instead of tour groups shuffling past. The address says “centre” and honestly, it delivers on that promise without the chaos that usually comes with it.
What really got me was stepping into the penthouse itself. I mean, the 9.3 rating had me curious, but sometimes those numbers don’t tell the whole story. This one does, though. The space feels like someone’s stylish Italian friend just handed you the keys to their place – if that friend happened to have impeccable taste and a thing for natural light. The windows are generous (thank god, because some of these historic buildings can feel like caves), and you get these glimpses of Lucca’s rooftops that make you want to grab your coffee and just… linger. The kitchen’s actually functional too, which is rarer than you’d think – I managed to pick up stuff from the market near Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and cook a proper meal without cursing at tiny burners or missing utensils.
Here’s the thing about staying on Via Michele Rosi: you’re close enough to walk to the good stuff but far enough out that you won’t be dealing with restaurant noise until 2 AM. The walls of Lucca are maybe a 10-minute stroll, and once you’re on those ramparts – well, that’s when you remember why you came to this town in the first place. Parking was surprisingly manageable (they’ll give you proper directions, not just “find a spot somewhere”), and I appreciated that the check-in process felt personal rather than hotel-lobby formal. The hosts actually seemed to know their neighborhood, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how often that’s not the case. One small thing – the stairs up to the penthouse are narrow, so if you’re traveling with huge suitcases, just… don’t. Pack smart and you’ll be fine. The payoff when you get up there, though? Totally worth the climb.

Guest Reviews
Buses were easily accessible to reach Central Station, building and surrounding area were quiet at night, this was while the Lucca Music Festival was on so the city was busy but even then we had peaceful evenings.
Lots of great bars and restaurants very close by.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was just what we needed
What could be improved: Later check out would have been better
What could be improved: N/a
What could be improved: Second floor without lift may be uncomfortable, possibly should be better stressed.
I expected some more complimentary goods in the house considering also the high price (bottle of water? Snacks?)
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Maybe another we lounger would be handy but only because it was 35 degrees! Everything was perfect
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Lack of lift
