First Impressions

Honestly, Le Sodole Country Resort & Golf caught me off guard in the best way possible. You’re driving through the Tuscan countryside near Pontedera, and suddenly this elegant four-star resort appears like something out of a magazine. The setting feels wonderfully secluded — you know you’re only about 20 minutes from Pisa, but it might as well be another world entirely. There’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you when you pull up the tree-lined drive.

The Grounds and Golf

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve woven the golf course into the landscape without making it feel overwhelming if you’re not a golfer. I mean, the views from the terrace are spectacular whether you care about par scores or not. The course itself is beautifully maintained — actually, couples seem to love walking the grounds even when they’re not playing, which tells you something about the setting. The spa sits tucked away in a quiet corner, and I found it genuinely relaxing rather than just going through the motions.

Accommodation and Comfort

The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of rustic Tuscan charm and modern comfort. You’ll sleep incredibly well here — honestly, the beds live up to all the praise they get from guests. Large windows, tasteful furnishings, and enough space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days. The bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy, and there’s something satisfying about the attention to small details like quality linens and proper lighting. Every element has been thoughtfully curated for maximum relaxation.

Dining and Daily Rhythms

Breakfast here is where you really start to appreciate the Italian approach to hospitality. The buffet strikes that sweet spot between variety and quality — fresh local ingredients, excellent coffee (this is Italy, after all), and they handle dietary restrictions like gluten-free options without making a big production of it. The main restaurant serves solid regional cuisine, though I’d recommend venturing into Pontedera or nearby villages for dinner at least once during your stay. The culinary experience extends throughout the day with thoughtful service.

Why Guests Love It

There’s free parking right on site, which might sound mundane but trust me, you’ll appreciate it when you’re exploring this part of Tuscany by car. The location really shines for couples — it’s romantic without being overly precious about it, and you’re perfectly positioned for day trips to Pisa, Lucca, or even Florence if you don’t mind a bit of driving. What I found most appealing was how the resort manages to feel both peaceful and engaging. You can spend a perfectly content day never leaving the property, or use it as your base for exploring some of Tuscany’s less touristy corners. The balance between retreat and adventure makes this resort exceptional.

The Restaurant had a great menu and super wine. The location was remote so it is not advisable taking public transport but to rent a car.

The rural location and the typical Tuscan property were wonderful. There was a mix up on arrival about rooms but Rebecca very pleasantly and smoothly sorted it out for us. The rooms are in apartments with a sitting room and kitchenette in what was once a large farmhouse, I think. The staff were all very nice indeed. The food……. Oh so delicious! We had one dinner which was fantastic sitting out with fairy lights under the trees. Wonderful menu. Then we couldn’t fault the breakfasts. Plenty to choose from and all delicious.

Clean, air conditioning works, which was important because it was +36 outside, the samples of cosmetics smell very delicious (you can also buy them at the reception). Parking is ok, the driveway is bumpy. The pool is cool, but there are not enough sun beds. It is very beautiful around - vineyards, fields and in the morning and evening the birds sing in a singsong voice
