La Casa del Ghiberti B&B Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to La Casa del Ghiberti B&B on Via Bufalini, you honestly can’t believe how close you are to everything that matters in Florence. I mean, the Duomo is literally around the corner — you can hear the church bells from your window. This four-star bed and breakfast sits in a beautifully restored historic building, and the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special. The entrance feels intimate and welcoming, nothing like those massive hotel lobbies that make you feel lost.

The Heart of Renaissance Florence

You know what’s incredible about this location? You’re standing where Ghiberti himself once worked — the same artist who created those famous bronze doors for the Baptistery. The street is narrow and cobblestoned, typical of this medieval part of the city, but it’s also surprisingly quiet considering you’re steps away from the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. Couples absolutely love it here (they consistently rate the location a perfect 10), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having Florence’s most iconic sights as your backyard. You can walk to the Uffizi in about three minutes, which means you can actually pop back to your room between museum visits.

Comfort That Actually Delivers

The beds here are genuinely fantastic — and I’m someone who usually struggles to sleep well when traveling. They’ve clearly invested in quality mattresses and linens, because guests consistently rave about getting great sleep. The rooms themselves blend historic charm with modern comfort perfectly. You’ll find original architectural details like exposed beams or stone walls, but also reliable Wi-Fi and updated bathrooms. Each space feels thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated, if that makes sense.

Personal Touches That Matter

What sets this B&B apart is how the hosts actually care about your experience in Florence. They’ll give you insider tips about which gelato shop locals prefer (hint: it’s not the one with the long tourist line) and the best times to visit major attractions. The breakfast is served in a charming common area where you might find yourself chatting with other travelers about their discoveries from the day before. It’s that perfect balance — helpful when you need it, but never intrusive.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.7 rating, this place clearly does something right, and honestly, it’s the combination of location and genuine hospitality that wins people over. You’re not just staying near Florence’s treasures — you’re living among them, in a building that’s part of the city’s story. The fact that you can stumble back from dinner in the Oltrarno or drinks near Santa Croce without worrying about transportation is huge. Plus, there’s something satisfying about telling people back home that you stayed in the actual heart of Renaissance Florence, not some modern hotel district.

Hotels near me in Tuscany deliver quick drives to Val d’Orcia lookouts, artisan workshops, and cypress-lined cycling routes.
