You know what really struck me about Hotel Ginori Al Duomo? It’s one of those places where you can actually hear the church bells from the Duomo without dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window. The hotel sits on Via Ginori in the San Lorenzo district, which honestly feels more like real Florence – you’ve got the covered market literally around the corner, and locals are actually buying their groceries there instead of just posing for Instagram.

The building itself has this quiet elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier places closer to the Ponte Vecchio. When I walked in, the lobby had that particular smell of old Florentine buildings – sort of like aged stone mixed with good coffee – and the staff actually remembered my name by the second day, which doesn’t happen everywhere. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star: comfortable without being overly fancy, with those wonderfully thick walls that keep the street noise to a minimum (though you’ll still hear some late-night chatter from people heading home from dinner, but that’s just Florence). I mean, the bathrooms are nicely updated, and honestly, the beds are better than what you’ll find at most places in this price range.

What really makes this place work is the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way that every hotel claims. You’re a five-minute walk from the Duomo, sure, but more importantly, you’re in a neighborhood where you can grab a proper cappuccino at the bar next door (and the barista won’t judge you for ordering it after 11 AM if you’re obviously a tourist). The San Lorenzo market is right there, so you can actually shop for picnic supplies or just wander through the leather stalls without it feeling like a tourist trap. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to the Uffizi but far enough away that you can escape back to quiet streets when the crowds get overwhelming. The staff gave me solid recommendations too – not just the obvious spots, but places like this little trattoria on Via Rosina that I never would have found otherwise. With an 8.6 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Florence rather than just visiting it.

  This is a lovely small hotel right in the heart of Florence. The staff was so helpful and kind. We were able to store our bags until check in time without a proble. They ordered a cab for us for a 4:00 am pick up!!

  Check in was great and the staff was friendly and helpful even though we arrived late. They also let us store our luggage there on our checkout day so we could explore the city some more without dragging our bags all over.

  The staff was exceptionally friendly and eager to have the guests have a great time. Everyone is super dog friendly and even when our dog had an 'accident' on the carpet (we are so sorry for that), they were very kind and even asked for our dog's wellbeing after. We had help unpacking and packing luggages and got great recommendations for going out at night from the reception. Thanks for that!
  We loved how close we were to the dome and had every location of the florentine old town in walking distance. The street is busy with nightlife and gastro and has a Carrefour just next door.
  There is american and italian breakfast and fresh made coffee in the morning.
