Hotel Borgo Di Cortefreda Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Hotel Borgo Di Cortefreda on Via Roma, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — it’s tucked away in Tavarnelle in Val di Pesa, which isn’t exactly a household name. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen in places you’ve never heard of. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Chianti country, and there’s something genuinely charming about how it blends into the Tuscan landscape without trying too hard to impress.
Location & Surroundings
The location is actually brilliant — I mean, couples are rating it 9.1 for good reason. You’re about 30 minutes from Florence, but honestly, once you’re here, you won’t want to rush off to the city. The Val di Pesa area is dotted with vineyards and olive groves, and there’s this authentic Tuscan vibe that tourist-heavy spots like San Gimignano have sort of lost. The parking is free and private, which is a huge relief if you’re driving through Tuscany (and trust me, you’ll want a car to explore the countryside properly).
The Room Experience
My room had that perfect balance of rustic charm and modern comfort — exposed beams overhead, but thankfully excellent air conditioning and Wi-Fi that actually worked. The windows opened onto rolling hills, and I spent way too much time just sitting there with a glass of wine watching the sunset paint everything golden. The bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy, and the beds are genuinely comfortable (sometimes you can’t tell until you’ve slept in them for a night or two).
Food & Dining
Here’s where things get really good — the food is exceptional, and I’m not just saying that because I was hungry from all the wine tasting. The restaurant focuses on local ingredients, and you can taste the difference when everything is sourced from nearby farms. Breakfast is this wonderful spread with continental options, Italian specialties, and they actually do vegetarian and gluten-free properly (not just as an afterthought). The buffet setup means you can take your time, which I appreciated since mornings in Tuscany should never be rushed.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it feels like a genuine Tuscan experience without the tourist circus. The staff knows the area inside and out — they’ll point you toward family-run wineries that aren’t on every tour bus route, and they understand that sometimes you just want to relax by the pool instead of checking off every must-see attraction. The 9.0 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without making a big show of it. You’ll leave feeling like you actually experienced Tuscany, not just photographed it.

The hotel is beautiful. We arrived for 2 nights and enjoined the close location to Piza and Firenze .
The pool was open but unfortunately it was too cold to get in. The breakfast was good a lot of variety. The restaurant in the hotel was a bit pricey and the dishes in my opinion was to small but very good . I recommend this place for your Tuscan getaway .Stephanie from United States (8/10)

The sunset view was amazing. We've used the location as a basis to travel around Tuscany as it was right within the Chianti protected area. The room was spacious and well kept.
