First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Art Atelier on Via Dell’Amorino, you immediately get the sense that someone put real thought into this place. Location & Neighborhood

The Santa Maria Novella area is where you want to be if you’re serious about experiencing Florence properly. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the train station, which sounds touristy but is actually brilliant for getting around Tuscany. What I love about this spot is that you can walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, but you’re not stuck in the absolute chaos of the historic center. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of locals grabbing their morning coffee and visitors who’ve figured out where the real Florence happens.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this interesting blend of contemporary design with subtle nods to Florence’s artistic heritage — hence the “Art Atelier” name, which actually makes sense once you’re inside. The space felt thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated, if that makes sense. You’ll find modern amenities that actually work (the Wi-Fi is solid, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine), but there are these artistic touches throughout that remind you where you are without being heavy-handed about it. The furnishings are comfortable and well-maintained.

Breakfast & Dining

Breakfast here is where they really show their understanding of what travelers need. They’ve got the full spread — continental options, proper Italian coffee (obviously), and they’re smart about accommodating dietary restrictions with gluten-free choices. The buffet setup means you can grab something quick if you’re rushing off to beat the crowds at the Uffizi, or you can settle in with a proper Italian breakfast if you’re taking your time. The restaurant area has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger over your cappuccino, which is dangerous when you have a packed itinerary.

  The hotel is nestled in area with shopping and dining all around you and within a short walk of the many of the points of interest in the city. Breakfast was very nice, and the staff was very helpful with any questions or needs. The room was beautiful, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was larger than most.

  The location is exceptional. Very close and easy to find from the train station (with luggage!) and the other end of the street leads to all the big monuments. The room was very clean and spacious and had a traditional chic Italian feel. Breakfast was also good, with alot of choices and a decent coffee machine.
