You know what struck me first about Hotel Albani Firenze? It’s got this solid, unshowy confidence that feels completely right for Florence. The building sits on Via Fiume – honestly, not the most charming street name, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella station, which I mean, that’s pretty brilliant when you’re dragging luggage through cobblestone streets. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance that doesn’t try too hard. Dark wood, soft lighting, the kind of place where you actually want to sit and plan your day rather than just rush through.

The rooms themselves are what I’d call “properly Italian” – not huge by American standards, but thoughtfully designed with rich fabrics and marble touches that feel authentic rather than flashy. Actually, the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious, and the shower pressure is excellent (you’d be amazed how often that’s an issue in historic European buildings). What really won me over was the attention to sound – the windows are genuinely good at keeping out street noise, which matters because Florence can get pretty lively, especially during the summer months when the crowds hit. The air conditioning works well too, though like most Italian hotels, they’re not trying to recreate Arctic conditions.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture – you’re in Santa Maria Novella, which means you’re close enough to everything important but just outside the tourist chaos around the Duomo. There’s this excellent little alimentari around the corner on Via Nazionale where locals actually shop, and the covered market at San Lorenzo is maybe a seven-minute walk. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too – they steered me toward this tiny trattoria on Via Rosina that I never would have found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they held my bags without any fuss when I arrived early. The 8.6 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Florence, but it delivers exactly what it promises with a warmth that feels distinctly Florentine rather than chain-hotel generic.

  I would have given top rating if the bathroom in our room was operational. Luckily we had a family room and used the bathroom in the other room, otherwise not sure what we would have done as only stayed for one night.
  The rooms were precious, gorgeous decorations and we loved it. The location was great as well and the breakfast was reach with lots of options.

  Comfortable bed, nice big room with high ceilings, nice bathroom with long deep tub. Lovely bar downstairs which feels like an elegant sitting room. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially attentive to our mother who is in a wheelchair. I think it's good value for the location, it's 15 minutes walk to the Duomo, Uffizi etc.
