The rooms – well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid 4-star in the heart of Florence. Nothing too fancy, but everything works and the beds are actually comfortable, which honestly surprised me given how many European hotels seem to think firm means “brick-like.” The bathrooms are modern enough, though if you’re staying in one of the rooms facing the street, you’ll get a bit of that authentic Florence soundtrack – scooters, animated conversations, the occasional tour group. I actually found it charming after the first night, but light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. The staff genuinely knows their stuff about the city, and not just the obvious tourist spots either. The concierge pointed me toward this tiny osteria on Via dei Neri that I never would’ve found otherwise – the kind of local knowledge that makes a real difference.

What really sells this place, though, is the location magic. You’re in the thick of everything that matters in Florence, but tucked away just enough that you’re not drowning in crowds the second you step outside. Palazzo Vecchio is right there, the Duomo’s an easy stroll, and you can actually walk to Santa Croce without feeling like you need a recovery day. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel too – there’s a little alimentari around the corner where locals actually shop, and you’ll catch the scent of fresh bread from nearby bakeries in the mornings. Parking’s going to be a nightmare if you’re driving (I mean, it’s Florence), but the train station’s walkable and honestly, you won’t need a car anyway. The hotel’s got that sweet spot thing going – fancy enough that you feel like you’re treating yourself, but not so precious that you’re afraid to come back with dusty feet after a day of sightseeing. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a quick espresso in the morning and actually feel like you’re living in Florence for a few days, not just passing through.
