Fullino Nero Rta – Residenza Turistico Alberghiera
Siena, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Fullino Nero? The address sounds intimidating – Strada Del Petriccio E Belriguardo is a mouthful – but honestly, once you’re there, it feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special that most tourists completely miss. I mean, it’s technically outside Siena’s historic center, but that’s actually the point. You’re tucked away in this quieter residential area where you can hear church bells instead of tour groups, and the walk into town is this gorgeous 15-minute stroll that becomes part of your daily ritual.
The place itself has that authentic Tuscan thing going on without trying too hard, if that makes sense. It’s a residenza turistico alberghiera – basically a step up from a regular hotel but more intimate than those massive chains. The rooms have this lived-in elegance, with terracotta floors that creak just right and windows that actually open (revolutionary concept, I know). What I loved was how they’ve kept the original architecture but added modern touches where they matter – the bathrooms are genuinely nice, and the WiFi doesn’t make you want to throw your laptop out the window. The breakfast spread is proper Italian, not some international buffet nonsense, and they serve it in this bright room where you can watch the city wake up through tall windows.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites don’t tell you – yes, you’ll need to walk or take a quick bus ride to reach the Duomo and Piazza del Campo, but you’re also perfectly positioned for exploring the countryside. I actually ended up loving this setup because you get the best of both worlds: easy access to Siena’s treasures during the day, then you retreat to this peaceful spot where locals walk their dogs and kids play in the streets. The staff (there’s this one woman at reception who knows literally everything about the area) will point you toward the local bus routes, but honestly, walking became my favorite part of each day. You pass through these narrow streets where laundry hangs between buildings and old men sit outside cafés reading newspapers – it’s the Italy you hope to find but rarely do when you’re staying right in the tourist zone. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s genuinely comfortable and feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find.

What could be improved: Nothing at all.
What could be improved: Monday seems to be laundry day and the washing machine was quite vocal
What could be improved: -
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: The intro said it was 4.6km from Siena. It was about 11km away. However, the view was great.
What could be improved: The air conditioning was not efficient enough for the room. Too hot to sleep.
It is a renovated farmhouse in old school style, don’t prepare for ultramodern apartment.
What could be improved: Nothing
