Etrusco Arezzo Hotel – Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Etrusco Arezzo on Via Fleming, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential area that feels more like where locals actually live than where tourists usually end up, which honestly turned out to be one of its biggest charms. The building itself has that clean, modern Italian business hotel look – nothing flashy, but you can tell they’ve put thought into keeping things updated.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually know Arezzo, not just the tourist highlights everyone talks about. The guy at reception – I think his name was Marco – didn’t just point me toward the Piazza Grande like every other hotel does. He mentioned this little osteria about ten minutes’ walk away where apparently the locals go for aperitivo, and you know what? He was absolutely right. The rooms are comfortable in that distinctly Italian way – good linens, proper shutters that actually block out light (crucial if you’re trying to sleep past sunrise), and bathrooms that feel recently renovated without being sterile. I mean, the shower had decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in smaller Italian cities.
The location is actually perfect if you want to experience Arezzo without being right in the thick of tourist central. You’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk from the main sights – the Basilica di San Francesco with those incredible Piero della Francesca frescoes, the monthly antique market that takes over the whole historic center – but you’re staying somewhere that feels more authentic. There’s a little café across the street where I grabbed cornetti in the morning, and the owner clearly knew half the neighborhood by name. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven in Italian city centers will appreciate. The hotel has its own lot, and while it’s not huge, I never had trouble finding a spot even when I came back late after dinner. That 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well without trying to be something it’s not. If you’re looking for a rooftop pool or fancy spa treatments, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a solid base for exploring Arezzo that feels more like staying in a real Italian town than a tourist bubble, the Etrusco gets it right.
