First Impressions

Walking up to Accademia Apartment on Via Bonifacio Lupi, you’ll immediately notice how this four-star property sits right in the thick of things — I mean, you’re literally in the San Marco district, which honestly feels like having Florence’s greatest hits right outside your door. The building itself has that understated Florentine elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but quietly commands respect. You know what struck me most? How the entrance manages to feel both historic and welcoming, like stepping into someone’s well-appointed home rather than a typical hotel.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about staying in Florence — location is everything, and this place absolutely nails it. You’re a five-minute stroll from the Accademia Gallery (hence the name, I suppose), which means you can actually beat the crowds to see Michelangelo’s David if you time it right. The Duomo is close enough that you’ll hear the bells, but far enough that you won’t be fighting tourist hordes every time you step outside. I loved how you can duck into local cafés that actually serve residents, not just visitors — there’s this little place around the corner where the barista remembered my order after two days.

The Apartment Experience

What sets this apartment-style accommodation apart is the space — you’re not cramped into a standard hotel room, but spread out in what feels like a proper Florentine residence. The kitchen is actually functional (not just decorative), which saved me a fortune on breakfast and late-night snacks. The furnishings strike that perfect balance between authentic Italian style and modern comfort — think original terracotta floors paired with updated bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure. Couples clearly love this setup, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of Florence to retreat to.

Daily Life Here

Mornings became my favorite part of staying here. You can grab fresh pastries from the bakery two blocks down, make proper coffee in your own space, and plan your day without rushing through a hotel lobby. The neighborhood comes alive early — market vendors setting up, locals heading to work, that authentic Florence rhythm you miss when you’re stuck in touristy areas. Evenings are equally special; you can pick up wine and cheese from nearby shops and enjoy them on your own terms, maybe planning the next day’s adventures or just soaking in the fact that you’re living, temporarily, like a Florentine.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.4 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects how this place gets the fundamentals right. The location score of 9.0 makes perfect sense when you realize you can walk to major sites but still feel connected to real Florence life. It’s particularly brilliant for couples because you get privacy and space without sacrificing access to everything the city offers. The apartment setup means you’re not bound by hotel schedules or crowded common areas, yet you still have professional service when you need it. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you consider extending your stay — and I actually did add an extra night.

Space was plenty for four people, frige was more than adequate and had a full stove that we never used. Bathrooms were nice. Place was very quiet, never heard any of the residents. There was a parking garage two blocks away which was good. Neighbor hood felt safe. Coffee shop right on the corner as well as a Pharmacy. We were about 6 blocks from the center of the historic area, 20 minutes to Train Station, places to eat within 3-4 blocks.

This is a spacious and comfortable apartment in a quiet residential neighborhood, slightly away from the busy and noisy main tourist locations. It is very quiet and safe at night, all the beautiful tall windows have shutters, too, even though they overlook a quiet courtyard. We loved the two full modern bathrooms, the very comfortable beds, all the comforts of home and a washing machine! The manager Rodolfo met us and gave a thorough tour of the apartment and also gave some useful advice as to local food shopping. The Carrefour supermarket is 3 minutes walk and the famous Trattoria da Tito is around the corner. Would definitely stay again!

It is situated in the city center, yet it's not noisy as the apartment windows open to an interior garden and not to the street. You can reach the Accademia in a 5 minute walk and the Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore) in a 10 minute walk. There is air conditioning in every room.

The location was a little bit away from the crowds which we liked. It was only 15 mins walk to the Basilica. It was clean and spacious.
