Cascina De’ Fagiolari
You know what really caught me off guard about Cascina De’ Fagiolari? The moment you pull up to this place on Via Bracciatica, it doesn’t feel like a hotel at all – it’s more like you’re arriving at your Italian aunt’s beautifully restored farmhouse. I mean, Lastra a Signa isn’t exactly on every tourist’s radar (it’s about 20 minutes west of Florence), but honestly, that’s part of what makes this spot so special. The building itself has this gorgeous rustic charm that you can’t fake – thick stone walls, weathered wooden shutters, and these little courtyards where you’ll actually hear birds chirping instead of traffic noise.
The rooms have that perfect balance of old-world character and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. My room had original terracotta floors that were cool under bare feet even in summer, and the bathroom – well, let’s just say they clearly invested in the renovations without losing the soul of the place. What I really appreciated was the attention to sound – the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway, which is honestly refreshing after staying in some of those paper-thin modern hotels. The breakfast spread is proper Italian – fresh pastries from a local bakery, really good coffee (not that weak hotel stuff), and they actually know how to do eggs properly if you ask.
Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they get there – you’re positioned perfectly to explore the Chianti region without dealing with Florence’s crowds and prices. The little town center is maybe a 10-minute walk, and there’s this family-run osteria called Il Convivio that locals actually eat at (always a good sign). Parking is free and easy, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Florence with a rental car will tell you is basically priceless. The staff runs the place like they actually care about whether you have a good time – not in that over-the-top way, but more like they’re genuinely proud of what they’ve created here. I stayed during late September when the weather was still warm but the summer crowds had thinned out, and honestly, it felt like having a slice of Tuscany mostly to ourselves. The 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be some luxury resort, but it does what it does really well, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

The restaurant was real good . And we will for sure come back again. 😊
Very big room. The entire property seems old, but they have done well to keep the rustic charm where needed and updated the other bits.
Great in-house Tuscan restaurant.
The swimming pool in the property is a great way to relax. Very silent that adds to the relaxation.
One of the rare restaurants that seems to make in-house all their breakfast items. Eg- Scrambled eggs are made home style with real eggs unlike the shortcut 99% of restaurants take. So is the case with their Focacia and breads too. Fruits are not from a Can. Loved this attention to detail.
Free parking in the entire property.
Good room.
Great view from the room balcony.
Good parking.
I would return once again and stay longer.
