Look, I’ve stayed at my share of Florence hotels, and c-hotels Ambasciatori genuinely surprised me in the best way. When you first walk up to Via Luigi Alamanni 3, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella station – which sounds touristy, I know, but hear me out. This actually means you can dump your luggage and be wandering the real Florence streets before the cruise ship crowds even figure out where they are.

The building itself has this understated elegance that feels more… I don’t know, authentic Italian than some of the overly ornate places closer to the Duomo. The lobby doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. It’s got character without being stuffy, and honestly, the staff seemed to actually enjoy working there rather than just going through the motions. I checked in around 2 PM on a Tuesday and the whole process was smooth – no hovering around waiting for rooms to be ready.

What really sold me was stepping into the room and realizing they’d managed to soundproof the place properly. You know how some Florence hotels have you listening to every Vespa and tour group until 2 AM? Not here. The windows actually work, the AC doesn’t sound like a freight train, and – this is a small thing but it matters – the shower has proper water pressure. I mean, you’re paying 4-star prices, you shouldn’t have to deal with that sad European trickle situation.

The neighborhood is what locals call “real Florence” without being inconvenient. Walk five minutes toward the river and you’ll hit Via de’ Tornabuoni for shopping, or head the other direction and you’re in the maze of streets where actual Florentines grab their morning coffee. There’s this little alimentari around the corner on Via Nazionale where I grabbed supplies – the kind of place where the owner remembers your face after two visits. The hotel’s breakfast was solid (proper espresso, decent pastries), but honestly, being able to walk to authentic spots made the difference.

I stayed in October, which is peak season but not summer-crazy, and the 8.9 rating makes total sense to me. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Florence – you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a rooftop pool – but everything they do, they do well. The housekeeping was thorough, the concierge actually knew the city instead of just handing out generic maps, and the whole vibe felt comfortable rather than intimidating.

If you’re the type who wants to stay somewhere that feels like a proper Italian hotel experience without the stuffiness or the tourist trap energy, this place gets it right. Plus, and this is practical stuff – the WiFi actually works throughout the building, there’s a decent business center if you need it, and they’re genuinely helpful with restaurant reservations. You’ll pay a bit more than some of the budget options near the station, but you’re getting that sweet spot of location, comfort, and authenticity that makes Florence trips memorable for the right reasons.

  The location is opposite the stations exit . Nice restaurant and supermarket nearby and 10 minutes walk to downtown

  Great location – just 1 minute opposite the train station in Florence. Staff are super friendly – upgraded my room, offered welcome drink, chocolate and also gave the spaghetti when check out. Room is vey big and comfortable with an amazing view to the train station square.

  The staff and the ambience were very good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Although it isn't, it felt like a family run hotel. The location was excellent for downtown Florence. My room was large and airy with a pleasant aspect. For a downtown location close to the railway station it was also very quiet. Breakfast was also excellent with lots of choice.

  The location is right next to the train station very convenient. The staff were very kind and helpful. They left a bag of pasta as a souvenir which was very cute.

  Very nice hotel with a famous well known reputation and location.
  All what we needed was available in the room. Very good sound proofing too. We didn't hear anything coming from the streets.
