Nobilia Dimore – Suite & Spa®

You know, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Nobilia Dimore on Via Adamo Ricci – honestly, Stia feels like one of those Tuscan towns you’d drive right through if you weren’t paying attention. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with the medieval vibe of the old town, and when you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about every detail without making it feel stuffy or overdone.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend the spa experience with genuine Tuscan hospitality. The suites are spacious enough that you’re not tripping over your luggage (which, let’s be honest, happens more often than it should in European hotels), and the spa facilities are actually substantial – not just a tiny room with a massage table like some places try to pass off. I mean, after hiking around the Casentino forests all day, that spa was exactly what I needed. The staff seems to genuinely know the area too, which is refreshing. They pointed me toward this little trattoria just off the main piazza that I never would have found otherwise, and they were spot-on about the best times to visit the nearby wool mill without dealing with tour groups.

The location is actually perfect for exploring this part of Tuscany that most people skip – you’re right in the heart of Stia’s historic center, so you can walk to everything, but it’s also an easy drive to places like Poppi or even Arezzo if you want to venture further. Parking was straightforward (always a concern in these old Italian towns), and the whole area gets beautifully quiet in the evenings. I stayed in early fall and the mornings were crisp enough that having a proper shower with good water pressure felt like a luxury. That 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Tuscany, but everything just works really well, and you get the sense that this is how a boutique hotel should actually feel.
