B&B Mr. My Resort

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Florence, but B&B Mr. My Resort caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Via Delle Ruote – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the entrance – which turned out to be perfect because you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the tourist chaos that hits the city center every morning around 9 AM.

The thing about this place is that it actually feels like someone’s home that they’ve opened up to travelers, not some corporate hotel trying to fake intimacy. The owner (I’m pretty sure his name is actually Mr. My, which I thought was a translation quirk until I met him) knows exactly which bakery opens earliest for cornetti and will casually mention that the 7 bus is faster than walking to the Duomo, especially when your feet are already protesting from yesterday’s cobblestone marathon. The rooms have this lived-in comfort – proper blackout curtains that actually work, thank god, and those little touches like a decent coffee machine and towels that don’t feel like sandpaper. I mean, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, but there’s something refreshing about a place that prioritizes function over Instagram-worthy aesthetics.

What really sold me was the neighborhood vibe. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Mercato Centrale, which means you can grab fresh produce or those incredible panini before the crowds descend, and there’s this tiny osteria around the corner – I think it’s called Il Convivio – that locals actually eat at. The street itself is pretty quiet, especially at night, though you’ll hear the occasional Vespa (it’s Florence, after all). Parking is… well, it’s Florence, so forget about that, but the train station is walkable if you don’t mind hauling luggage over uneven stones. The host was genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations too – not the touristy spots everyone suggests, but places where you’ll actually want to linger over dinner. Honestly, with an 8.9 rating, I expected it to be good, but this felt more like staying with a knowledgeable friend who happens to have excellent taste in coffee and knows exactly how firm you want your pillows.
