Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Florence B&Bs, and B&B Lorena Suites honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how most places in the Campo di Marte area feel sort of… utilitarian? This one actually has character. The moment you walk up to Viale Don Giovanni Minzoni 8, you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of the centro storico, but you’re definitely not stuck in some soulless business district either.

What I really loved about this place – and I mean this genuinely surprised me – is how they’ve managed to make it feel like you’re staying with someone who actually cares about Florence, not just running a business. The suites (and they really are suites, not just rooms with a mini-fridge shoved in the corner) have this warm, lived-in quality that’s hard to fake. You can tell someone put thought into the details… the kind of touches that make you want to linger over your morning coffee instead of rushing out to tick off another museum. The 4-star rating isn’t just about thread count here – it’s about creating spaces that feel genuinely comfortable.

Here’s what sold me on the location, though: you’re a pleasant 15-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella, which means you can actually escape the crowds when you need to breathe. The Campo di Marte neighborhood has this wonderful mix of actual Florentines going about their daily lives and enough cafes and shops to keep you entertained. Plus – and this is huge if you’re driving – parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the Duomo. I mean, it’s still Florence, so don’t expect miracles, but it’s manageable. The tram line is right there too, so getting around is honestly pretty effortless once you figure out the system (took me about two rides to get the hang of it).

The 8.4 rating makes total sense when you factor in the service. Check-in was refreshingly human – no corporate script, just genuine recommendations about where to grab the best aperitivo nearby (they steered me toward this little place that I never would have found on my own). The staff actually knows the neighborhood, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how rare that is. They’re the kind of people who’ll tell you which gelateria is worth the walk and which tourist trap to skip entirely.

Honestly, if you’re the type who needs to be stumbling-distance from the Ponte Vecchio, this might not be your spot. But if you want to experience Florence like someone who actually lives here – morning runs along quieter streets, discovering neighborhood bakeries, having space to decompress after a day of navigating crowds – then B&B Lorena Suites gets it right. It’s that sweet spot between accessibility and authenticity that most places either can’t find or don’t bother looking for.

  Great view. Very clean, nicely decorated and the hoasts were helfull: providing all the information we needed including for self checkin as we arrived later in the evening.Also, is relatvely close to the city center around 15- 20 min walk.

  Wonder stay, can walk to train station or there is a bus 2 blocks away that drops you off at the train station. A few good restaurants as well. Photo of food, great restaurant turn to your right, block down to your right in the middle section is a great family restaurant.

  Great size room if you book a junior suite, small balcony with views of the hills in the distance. The room is decorated well, nice and modern and lovely and clean. Slightly on the outskirts of attractions, about a 20 minute walk to the dome. Lots of restaurants and shops on the way down. Friendly staff who let us store our bags before check in. Highly recommend.

  We loved the attention of the staff; the breakfast at the room, the room cleaning and that the location was not downtown, which gives a little break from the noise

  Not very closed to the train station but it is convenient to take buses to commute between the accommodation and station. Walking distance to the cathedral. Safe and decent neighborhood. The staff on the front desk is helpful and be able to speak fluent English. Modern interior design for the room.
